Nintendo offers a vague statement in regards to recent Joy-Con drift issues

While a potential lawsuit brews in the background, Nintendo appears to have taken notice of the recent spike in Joy-Con drift issues. After last week's public reveal of CSK&D investigating potential legal action against the gaming giant, Nintendo has released an official statement on the matter, acknowledging the problem, though not addressing it. When contacted by multiple news outlets, Nintendo responded with the following:

At Nintendo, we take great pride in creating quality products and we are continuously making improvements to them. We are aware of recent reports that some Joy-Con controllers are not responding correctly. We want our consumers to have fun with Nintendo Switch, and if anything falls short of this goal we always encourage them to visit http://support.nintendo.com so we can help.

The company's support page has also been slightly edited, adding a direct link for consumers that are having issues with their Joy-Cons not functioning or responding correctly. It's also now easier to begin the process of sending in your Joy-Cons to be repaired by Nintendo, though this is only in effect for the United States and Canada, currently. Despite Nintendo's answer being vague and ignoring the fact that the Joy-Con drift issues could entirely be their fault, the threat of legal action does seem to have at least caused some effect for the time being.

Yeah I haven't had any problems with my launch day grey pair of joycons drifting, but I pre-ordered the Daemon X Machina split pad because I like everything about the design. The colors, button layout, and thickness of it all seem to be exactly what I'm looking for in an upgrade for portable play. Hopefully the sticks are more durable, too.
I absolutely agree. The only thing about the design I'm a bit sketchy about is the plastic that lies on the back of the switch when attached. They're going to be replacing my joycons, so it'd suck if I can't dock it while they're attached.

Lol this is like how their customer support would answer if you call them and complain about the joycon drift.

And screw their expensive joycons, I've been taking care of it and barely use it since I have a pro controller even a 8bitdo controller yet it still drifts on me.

Looks like it should have enough clearance with how far the main unit sticks out of the top of the dock. Since it's an officially licensed product, I'd be surprised if they screwed up on a detail like that.

Oh, I know. It just looks a bit too long from the photos. I absolutely think it will fit, I simply have that worry in my head that it won't.

have any of you tried a blast of wd40 / compressed air in through the front of the stick unit? There are a number of sellers on taobao selling kits of a can of each to fix joycon drift.

I got the issue myself and was about to order some, or just a replacement stick since they're only a few bucks but I got impatient and just popped open the stick myself, there was like 1, tiny piece of dust on the connector rails, wiping that off fixed it. I'm sure just a small blast of compressed air could have fixed that without the absolute nightmare of reassembling the stick unit.

I wouldn't suggest spraying wd40 into the joycon. wd40 doesn't agree with most plastics. I have shot a few good strong blasts of compressed air in there though, and there was no change whatsoever.

I just really hope the lawsuit succeeds so Nintendo is forced to fix the joycon design flaw or replace the sticks with a more reliable variant.

I think its my turn to say something on the matter. This joycon drift bullshit doesn't happen to everybody so I don't see why Nintendo should have to fix it or if its even their fault or not. Nintendo never gave the specifics on how long a joycon's life was so this lawsuit will inevitably fall down to the toilet to be flushed for good. Also this "drift" that you speak of is literally just the hardware getting older so its falling apart a little bit. Everything does that. My old OLD 3DS is a perfect damn example of falling apart. This bullshit will fail faster than you can say the word indestructible.

I may be wrong...I may be right. I know some of it is right though. Don't respond trying to roast me or shit either about how this is all wrong. Your free to comment on what's wrong and what's not just don't be a jerk about it.

Oh well, I'll skip my argument because of this:

So bullshit my balls, they responded for the issue because they know it actually happens, and now everyone is happy :switch::yayswitch:.

Nintendo might have done something but if they hadn't then the lawsuit still wouldn't have held up in court for what I stated above. Its literally just the hardware aging. People need to stop whining and get over it. The fact that people get to pull shit like this on the big guys when its only stuff like hardware aging is just plain sad.

Yeah, because hardware ages in three fucking months of weekend-only usage. (My right joycon started to drift after that amount of time). In my country, this console is expensive, and having a problem like that just for some hardware flaw is absolute nonsense, and as a video posted earlier shows, is very clear that rather than hardware aging, is a hardware flaw design with that graphite foil scratched by, literally, metal claws.

Bullshit. You cannot tell me it's "just hardware aging" when its a problem this specific and this prevelant, which to those it happens to, it often happens very very quickly. The reason the stick drifts is not age, it is a poorly chosen cheaply designed stick.

No, thank you for actually listening and not being an absolute prick like some of the other people in this thread. It's nice to see a person who can actually admit when they're wrong. Props. I'm sorry I went off.

You had every right to go off. I was wrong and you are right. I didn't read too much into it but from what I knew I drew up a conclusion which was the vaguest of vague and for that I sincerely apologize.

They better improve the next batch of controllers they're making!
Such a shame! Ever since I learned of this, I rarely use my joycons.
I rather play with the pro controller.
You totally should use those, the sooner they fail the sooner you'll have a free replacement.

Yeah, but that also means you have to go through the effort of boxing and sending, and then waiting for a replacement. It's nice that the option is there, but I'd prefer to not have to.

Hopefully they send me a coffin for both my controllers. Original left went bad, replacement right went bad. My kid plays with mismatched controllers. I have ps2 original phat xbox and chewed up 360 controllers where the hat is missing because my old dog chewed it. None of those have anykind of drift. The xvome controller is my favorite. I use a safety pin qtip and alcohol like everyone else here have tried with an air compressor making sure u shoot right under that rubber slit and pray it works.

My son beats the shit out of them but he does the same for every other controller including the pro controller. The pro had been problem free.
