Wondering if anyone can help me out? Just got an SX Pro & an Unpatched Switch on 3.02... What's the best way to go about getting EmuNand running while keeping my SysNand clean?

I take it once I'm running EmuNand I can update to the latest Firmware for the ExFat patch?

I also read something about Booting SX OS skipping a security check & causing fuses to burn... Is that still the case? & Will that happen of I use the SX OS to launch another payload?

Any advice would be appreciated... Been reading for 5 hours or so & still not 100% on what I'm doing!

Kept my Switch in a cupboard for a year & I'd hate to mess it up now!

Thanks

Only use SX OS with your emuNAND, and that will keep your sysNAND clean.

It is recommended that you use ChoiDujourNX to update your system version on your dirty emuNAND, and you can also install exFAT support this way. Your emuNAND should not be connected to the internet, and if it is connected to the internet, you should be using 90DNS and/or Incognito.

I also read something about Booting SX OS skipping a security check & causing fuses to burn... Is that still the case? & Will that happen of I use the SX OS to launch another payload?
That's true with Atmosphere and any other modern CFW.

However, if you update your clean sysNAND (which is required to play games online), and you boot your clean sysNAND without CFW, you will burn fuses, and you will be unable to downgrade. If you want to update your clean sysNAND but don't want to burn fuses, you need to install AutoRCM.

If you don't care about downgrading, you don't need to worry about fuses.

Damn, that was a rapid reply, Thanks for that.

One more question;

What the best way to set up an EmuNand? If I use RCM to boot SX OS to create the EmuNand won't that 'contaminate' the SysNand?

It would be nice to have the ability to downgrade in the future... Just in case!

My understanding is you can create the emuNAND from the SX menu without actually booting into your sysNAND. I don't actually use SX though, since I only use good software.

Ahhh, ok, I get you. So SX menu boots before the SysNand... Is that the same for all CFW like Atmos & whatnot?

I'm feeling the sassyness that goes along with your helpful advice :rofl2:

I'm not married to the idea of SX OS, just like the look of their dongle & RCM jig

What would you recommend instead?

If you already have an SX Pro, there's no reason not to use it (until they inevitably stop supporting it). If you didn't already have an SX Pro, I'd recommend Atmosphere.

Fair enough, thanks for your help mate. Appreciate it.

Mind if I drop you a PM later if anything pops up?

I was about to go to bed but I guess I'm gonna' be up for a few more hours :creep:

Just thinking.... Won't I need the exfat patch to be able to use my SD card to make my NAND backup & EmuNand?

SX OS is a Good software. For me is the best CFW. Is really easy to setup. Atmoshpere if you want to use emunand you gonna get to read a lot. In SX OS just go to the menu and create your emunand

One of the big advantages of SX OS is XCI loading and a REAL USB support.

Just insert your exfat SD card and launch the SX OS Menu. Create your emunand and then update using choidujournx and select exfat update

I take it I the exfat patch only applies to the EmuNand right? So I'll still get the prompt to update my console on my SysNand with the exfat card in the system

I don't know about SX, but Hekate can do NAND backups and whatnot with exFAT without installing exFAT support to the Switch. It is recommended that you format your SD as FAT32. You can also add exFAT support to your sysNAND by updating online.

That's good to know... Won't updating SysNand online make it iPatched?

So can I update my switch to the latest official firmware? Or do I need to use choidujourNX?
I'm running latest 2.8 SX os with emunand. I have stealth on and 90dns on?

If it's a dirty NAND (you're using hacks with it), you need to use ChoiDujourNX to update.

If it's a clean NAND (you've never used hacks with it), you can update through the system settings.
