Hi all, i'm currently banned and i'm going to restore my OFW backup, following this guide :

nhserver -> switch guide -> nandrestore

I made the files before installing anything.

Everything seems so simple, so i know i'll have all kind of problems :-)

I have two more questions :

1) I updated from 5.x to 6.0 via Nintendo server. It will never boot without a bootloader since the fuse count doesn't match ? How can i check it ? I will have to enable autorcm ?

2) I also (listen big N, listen) a large number of original games and i want to retain save games of them (in particular the Minecraft one that my children uses almost daily). Is there a way not making me banned again to save my "save games" ?

Thanks !

Hi all, i'm currently banned and i'm going to restore my OFW backup, following this guide :

When you say "currently banned", you know that this is permanent and restoring won't fix anything right?

Restoring is like playing russian roulette. I wouldn't risk it if the switch is actually working.

I originally used briccmii from https://switchtools.sshnuke.net/ to see my fuse count, I think hekate might display it but I've not used that in forever.

If your fuse count is higher than the FW you are trying to run then you'll need to boot using RCM and inject a payload, you can use either a JIG or autorcm.

Ehm no, i didn't know, afaik if i restore with a clean nand i should be ok and could go back playing MY LEGIT BOUGHT GAMES Online (this is a real mess made by nintendo...)

Am i wrong ??

I'll check that asap. I only installed ONE update, from 5.x to 6.0 via nintendo server. I also saw that once boot i can update to 8.0 (to say a newer one) with alternative methods and thus switch will boot fine. Right ?

Thanks.

Yes, you are wrong. You can't go online with that switch ever again.

You say it's a real mess by Nintendo, but you have to accept you played a part.

If you had turned on autoRCM and updated with Choi instead of Nintendo servers your fuse count would have stayed low enough to restore. Also if you had never taken the switch online since you bought it then you could have restored your clean nand and go online without a ban. There is no way to unban

What Kafluke said. You were told to back up your MMC (NAND, whatever) in case you soft-bricked your Switch. This way, you could have a backup to restore. Restoring will NOT unban you, as your console's UUID (Unique User ID) is what's banned, not some file they place on the Switch itself that you can automagically get rid of.

Personally, I wouldn't restore a backup if your Switch is running just fine; also, this is why I have 2 Switch consoles. One is to go online and one is to play with homebrew and play legit copies of physical carts offline.

So, thanks to you all. I got the point. My switch is fine right now and i won't restore anything as unban is impossible right now.
I can't even play may games online, but, as someone said, it was my fault.
In my head, my plan was to buy Mario Maker and Pokemon and play them online on my "restored" switch and possibly never go back to any cfw (too much hassle, even when i tried retroarch, not limiting to "backups").

I'll say that i'm unsure if at this round big N won the fight with super-nasty criminally guys as i am, but...maybe i'll get another switch, seems ok to me, so Ninty will sure win.
I'll reflect over this point ;-)

Thanks, again.

Now that emunand is out then if you can get another unpatched & unbanned switch then you could use sysnand for legit online and emunand for hax offline. Patched switches can't go online as the software hax require an old firmware. You could then sell your banned switch (you should be honest that it's banned though)
