Boot up what from where? Retroarch? L4T Lakka? A specific game? All of them? Can you get into retroarch or lakka at all? Also this is just a thread about n64 dynarec, there are specific threads for both retroarch and l4t lakka that might be more helpful.
Just from the Retroarch menu. Couldn't get anything to boot. Do I need to be in lakka?

Exept the doctor is paid to find out whats wrong with you

Yet the doctor still asks you what's wrong and you have to explain. He/she's not a mind reader. Neither are us on this forum. People asking for help and don't give details is not helpful to them becuse then we have to ask for those details instead of just helping them. You're right though we're not paid to help but we do it anyway.

Who's more likely to get help faster someone who says

"It just a black screen when I try to boot up"

or

"I am on CFW _____________, firmware _____________, I tried __________ and ____________ but I get a black screen when booting up"

Still not sure if you're talking about retroarch from hbm or l4t lakka, but in both cases if you see the menus and cannot get a game to start you might want to change your video driver or settings, for example vulkan does not work with n64, try gl/glcore, without more info I can't help you much more than that :/

Also if you messed around with your core/game specific settings you might want to delete your config files and set them up again.

9 pages of Discussions and none willing to be helpful, great community and the Toxic behavior still the same since the days of DS modding

if someone wants to be the wise man and lecture me, try to answer my 2 questions first

and also thanks for nothing, i figured out both my problems and solved them

this is a prime example for me not wanting to comment on anything for years even though i have the answers for most of questions here, you would most likely see comments like don't ask here, not allowed, then an actual helpful tip

or the smart@ss one word reply that this forum is famous for

Seems like nothing has changed in the last 6 months!

Yeah it's our fault you don't describe your situation right. Someone was trying to help you but they don't even know if you're trying to use Lakka or Retroarch on Horizon because you simply won't tell them.
Followed the youtube guide... In the comments brought me here for a hand.
Running the current Atmosphere, have a retroarch nsp installed because I read that there was a lack of processing power from the hb app. I have tried to just launch the system itself and I get a blank screen. I have also tried to open the n64 files and all I get is an error to reboot back to the payloads. This is all I have info on this... just this thread and the youtube video. I don't really see any tutorials, unless you know of one?

You can overclock in Retroarch itself in the main menu. To get the extra ram you hold R button down and start an nsp or eshop game, and it will take you to homebrew menu and launch Retroach from there. I won't repeat it again.

Yeah do not use nsp for retroarch. Download the latest retroarch nightly to get the most up to date: http://buildbot.libretro.com/nightly/nintendo/switch/libnx/

Extract on the root of your sd card, and as stated hold R button then start any installed game or demo you have on your switch, then from there (you should be in the homebrew menu) start retroarch.

Then once you get the hang of it I suggest you try L4T Lakka, which is basically a Retroarch OS, once installed properly you will boot straight into L4T Lakka which looks exactly like retroarch but has better overall performance, better drives and more possibilities in terms of cores/consoles such as gamecube (not all game runs well but some of them works really well with vulkan drivers). It has noticeable better n64 performance. I can't say much for other consoles as my main reason for running retroarch/l4t lakka is play nintendo console games. Enjoy :)

the graphics are glitched
Likely because the new release broke it. It's how emulation works until it's near perfected. You break things on updates, you fix things on updates, and then the cycle repeats. fixing and breaking, hopefully the breaking is less than the fixing.
