Latest Pokemon Sword and Shield trailer shows off new Pokemon and Gigantamax

The next generation of Pokemon is nearly here, and with the games' imminent release means learning more about what the latest entries have to offer. During the pre-E3 2019 trailer, Nintendo explained the latest mechanic, Dynamaxing. In this video, we learn of how to go even further beyond, with Gigantamax, which not only changes a Pokemon's size, but also its appearance as well. Additionally, Sword and Shield will have differing Gym Leaders, with the former featuring the fighting type Gym and its leader Bea, while the latter instead has a Ghost-type Gym, led by Allister.

The newest reveals for the Galar Dex are Duraludon, a Steel/Dragon, Alcremie, a Fairy-type, Rolycoly, a Rock-type, and the Gigantamax versions of Corviknight and Drednaw.

In all seriousness this is good I guess, it's kind of like a compensation for no megas with the new Pokemon looks. Also imma head out of here before this thread blows up.

Not a fan of this new gimmick tbh.
Seems like it's gonna be the new excuse for a low count of new Pokemon.

I hope at least the rumoured Farfetch'd evolution is not some gigantmax form to be chained to gen 8 forever.

To be honest those new pokemon don't look so good. What was that a wedding cake? The other version been a puddle of chantilly cream with strawberries, eyes and mouth? Wow... This looks kinda lame. I'll hold on to my money until I see the reviews and ultimately I might just play it for free and sacrifice online if gameplay and story if good enough to invest my time in it.

do you forget that gen 5 literally made garbage into a pokemon? gen 1 had a pile of goop we call grimer and muk. and lets not forget the freaking ice-cream pokemon.

Hahaha no, I do recall those! And don't forget the keychain pokemon and the chandelier pokemon. I know grimmer and muk looked bad but they weren't presented as "amazing new pokemon" back in the day, I mean, yeah there were only 150 and all that but come on... the ratio of bad pokemon you get for each gen is getting higher. Or maybe I'm just getting older and my nostalgia googles keep me looking at Red as the best thing since sliced bread... who knows?

Mega Evolutions and Z-Moves were also cheap crap, It's all gimmicks, personally I dont like any of this. They should just balance the pokemon out better.
Are they really gone for this game or just no new additions? for instance iirc in sun and moon you could get mega evolution eventually from those two scientists/helpers from gen 5

they specifically said that they're gone during nintendo tree house. Though I hope (I really really hope) the designs return as giga dynamax forms.

Dynamax and Gigantamax are technically the same thing, yet slightly different. This information was already leaked before the dynamax mechanic (and its respective trailer) were officially revealed.

Dynamax: Giant Pokemon with dynamax versions of their moves.
Gigantamax: Basically giant Mega Evolution and possibly unique moves per Pokemon, like some of the unique Z-moves or specific moves that certain Pokemon could learn in previous titles.

To be honest those new pokemon don't look so good. What was that a wedding cake? The other version been a puddle of chantilly cream with strawberries, eyes and mouth? Wow... This looks kinda lame. It's probably icing/whipped cream, but yeah, its Gigantamax form seems to be a wedding cake. If it does evolve, I have no idea what they'll do with it, though I wouldn't be surprised if it just turns into an even bigger wedding cake, haha.

@Chary: It's a rather minor thing, but you might want to add Alcremie to the section of the OP that mentions the Gigantamax forms shown off in the trailer. The website (and trailer itself) confirms that the giant cake is its Gigantamax form. Other than that, thanks for keeping us updated on the latest Pokemon news!

I guess they made huge progress in animation and design since this time it is a electric dog wagging its tail instead of an electric mouse.
Since gen 6 my whole team was basically from older gens (mostly gen 1-3) but now I am really excited to create a team out of a wedding cake, some ice and cotton candy.
The biggest opponent will be diabetes.

I'm actually looking forward to this new feature "Gigantamax" feature. it's nice to have something new for a change rather than sticking to the old gameplay mechanics over and over again.
lol your being sarcastic right? this gigabtamax thing is basicaly a mega evolution with z moves lol, the only diference is the form only lasts 3 turns and then you return to normal.

srs some very few pokemons have this new forms some dont (mega evos)
Those exclusive forms have exclsuive powerful moves that they can do (z moves)
