PDP's latest Nintendo Switch controller is going to be Sonic themed

Gotta control fast, with hardware manufacturer PDP's latest gamepad design. After already having made a handful of controller designs for Nintendo characters, such as Mario, Luigi, Link, and Pikachu, PDP will be taking a shot at making a controller featuring a Sonic the Hedgehog color scheme. It's one of the PDP Fight Pad Pro controllers, so it'll have a near-identical layout to the Nintendo GameCube controller, just with a detachable C-stick, and extra buttons in the middle for Home/+/-/Screenshot. As seen in the picture above, the front will be Sonic-blue, and the back is red, like his shoes, while the center buttons are gold, to represent rings. There's no set release date, but the controller has already gone up for sale on EB Games Australia.

Sonic the Hedgehog is the fastest hero in the world, famous for his supersonic speed, iconic blue spikes and red shoes. With a super cool attitude and easy-going demeanour, Sonic has a love for freedom and adventure. Spinning head-on into trouble to defeat the evil forces of Dr. Eggman, for Sonic saving the world is the name of the game.

HORI is bringing it back to the old school with the Nintendo Switch Battle Pad. GameCube-style contours with traditional C-Stick will feel at home in the hands of any Smash Bros vet, but the Battle Pad’s extra features set it apart from the pack.

Now you can play as this speedy Hedgehog with this awesome Nintendo Switch PDP Wired Fight Pad Pro Controller.

Grab yours today!

I find it amazing Nintendo basically treats gamecube's controller as their "perfect" controller.
I think it’s better than the switch pro controller. Many would say the same. The GameCube controller is really good. If I’m playing Mario kart, I’m using this one. Though using this to play FFVII would just be strange. I don’t play smash

The Switch Pro controller comes damaged by default, you have to open it up to fix it. That's why I didn't get one, getting two more joycons instead.

They really don't. The only reason Nintendo themselves keep releasing GameCube accessories (and even this is rare) is because of Smash Bros. players being unwilling to move on. To be fair, GameCube controllers are pretty much the perfect gamepad to play Smash Bros. on. Third parties have been releasing more GameCube-style peripherals lately because demand is high, and it likely has nothing to do with what Nintendo thinks.

I like gamecube controller, although I find it awkward that they put the confirmation button one the big A button. I usually remap it as the cancel button. it feels like the B button of SNES classic for me. So B becomes Y, Y becomes X and X becomes A

It also seems to be the only Nintendo controller not involved in lawsuits.

Maybe not Nintendo, but Smash Bros. players from all over the world.

The Gamecube Controller fits perfectly on most hand size and it's control pads and buttons are for the most part, easily reachable.
