Terraria for the Nintendo Switch finally gets a release date

tswitch627.png

At long last, we know that Terraria is actually going to release on the Nintendo Switch, and it'll be out incredibly soon. Originally teased as one of the first games for the then-named Nintendo NX, Terraria's Switch port has been one that fans have been waiting a long time for. The same developer who made the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 ports, Pipework Studios, will also be in charge of the Switch version. You'll be able to play when it launches digitally on June 27th, with a physical edition promised at a later date.

I always liked the general idea of terraria, but the controls have been a chore even on pc, on console, i've always viewed it as borderline unplayable

Hated it on PC, loved it on VITA.
Couch+touchscreen (couchscreen ?) is a terrific combo.

Opposite here. Playing with a controller is unbearable for me, especially when placing blocks and furniture. WASD for directions, Space bar for jump, Q for hookshot is an easy keyboard combo, and using the cursor border makes the game nice to play, IMO.

What? Fix your damn game on other plaforms first!

Played it on Vita for 100hrs+. The game was fine with glithes here and there. After a few patches it became a horrible mess. Then they dropped support for legacy platforms. PSV version remains broken. Forever. You are forced to use the latest version once the patch gets installed. No official downgrade possible.
Then I moved to PS4. Multiplayer was broken for at least a year!!! (Lag problems, connection drops, not possible to join etc.) I stopped playing it and my friends who bought this game because of my recommendation didn't even bother with it after they realized in what kind of broken state it is.

What a shame. A splendid game down the drain.

When a company waits until 2 days before it releases to announce the product. Its better than it releasing with no announcement though so its unexpected like "WHAT??? HOW LONG HAS IT BEEN OUT I NEVER READ ABOUT IT"

You're right, the way they handled Vita version was terrible.
After a 2015 specific update, RAM became an issue and the game kept crashing every 20minutes. It took them a whole year to fix that.
Since then, crashes almost disappeared and I engulfed maybe 100 hours in it.

It is a good game in the end, on way too many platforms and it appears the team is too small to handle stability efficiently.
Don't you wonder why it took them 2 years to port the 1.3 version to the Nintendo cash-cow ?

That's great news! I've just started playing the game yesterday with some friends via Steam, because they never played the game and I forgot most of the things since the last time I played was 2 years ago, I might start playing on my Switch now and will try to convice my friends to buy there too.
