Switch firmware update 8.1.0 out now

You have two options:Accidentally updated while in OFW, can't boot into SXOS 2.7.1 lmao.
How do you accidentally upgrade?Accidentally updated while in OFW, can't boot into SXOS 2.7.1 lmao.
I actually did the same... I'm used to pressing A to select my user when I boot up a game, and without looking I pressed A when the update prompt came up. Doesn't help that the cursor is automatically on Restart and Update :-/How do you accidentally upgrade?
It's funny to know as a fact that Ninty have employees who have profiles on gbatemp and other forums to help patch the exploits.

Is there no way to cancel it once you prompted yes?I actually did the same... I'm used to pressing A to select my user when I boot up a game, and without looking I pressed A when the update prompt came up. Doesn't help that the cursor is automatically on Restart and Update :-/
Not without risking a brick from interrupting the update. Is there no way to cancel it once you prompted yes?
I don't think you can even force the Switch to turn off in time, once you hit Update it takes about 2 seconds before the console reboots itself (when it prompts you to Update that means it has already downloaded the updated and has queued it to install). In contrast, it takes about 8-10 seconds to do a hard shutdown by holding down the power button. And even if you could, you're basically asking for a brick...Not without risking a brick from interrupting the update.

I also highly doubt everyone who said their younger sibling updated their console was telling the truth. That would be an epidemic.
- Took no measures to block updates and pressed A without paying attention to what they were doing.
- Are lying to save face after intentionally updating without being aware of the consequences.
This is one of the many reasons why my Switch hasn't touched the internet since 5.1.0 came out.I'd just like to point out that the former is frighteningly easy to do if you have the DNS temporarily disabled for any reason. I've done it before. The problem is that the update prompt shows up before the user prompt, so muscle memory can almost certainly fuck you over when you're used to hitting A twice quickly to launch a game. Furthermore, it immediately updates without confirmation unlike the Settings option (which is shitty, honestly.)
Switch updates come with joycon updates often. Is there ever going to be a stability update for the joycon controller?
It still works, yes. L4T doesn't touch Horizon at all, so it'll still boot up as normal through Hekate.Does L4T still work with this update?
You can do this by booting into Maintenance Mode. With the console powered off, hold down the volume up and volume down buttons, then press the Power Button to turn the console on. Be sure to keep pressing down the volume buttons until the recovery mode menu is displayed. When you are in the recovery menu, just simply press the power button again to turn the console off. After you boot the console back up normally, you'll need to either turn on Airplane mode or use the SwitchBru DNS (otherwise the update will download itself again).is there anyway to delete the pending update? keeps bugging me to update everytime i boot a game....
You can download the firmware file online and install it with ChoiDujourNX. As for where to find that firmware file, Google is your friend. Is there a way to manually update to 8.0 or 8.0.1 without going directly to 8.1? Thanks
