Being able to trade your old mons into the new games just makes it way too easy to keep reusing the same team in every new game. This actually forces you to rethink your strategies, because your favorite mons might not be available. It also makes you appreciate the new mons more.

I mean, this info is literally just coming out, so there's a good chance they just want people to focus on Gen 8, its mechanics, etc, until 2020,

Essentially, yes, that is the plan. By September, we'll have a better idea....and possibly LE Switch for Gen 8 that will sell out faster than ChuChu and Eevs Lesssss Gooo LE's.

Can't say if that pokeball accessory will make it over....you know, that's a lot of programming :creep:

They said in the direct it will be supported. But not as a controller, you can only transfer your Pokemon onto it to take them for a walk. Makes sense, it only has 2 buttons and the controls didn't even work that great in Let's Go since some actions required shaking.

I don't mind this at all. Being able to trade your old mons into the new games just makes it way too easy to keep reusing the same team in every new game. that is false lol, they usualy only let you transfer pokemon from previous games after you beat the game, the trnafer station is usualy always loked until pokemon league is won, ever since gen2.

Wanna make any bets there'll be a mon that evo's from that?
probably the lets go exclsuive legendary thing if he makes it in i mean.

Guys dont panic, its not like we havent been through this before remenber gen3?

No backwards compatibility so almost every previous gen pokemon was unacessible, but then nintendo made the next games get gradualy every pokemon back.

Its abit sad most of our old pokemons will get stuck on last gen but who knows, pokemon home only releases on 2020 so they have time to make updates for pokemon game to add more pokemons overtime, i really wanted my mega pokemons, i loved mega evolutions and now its just stupid 3 turn giant crap but oh well i will miss my favorite mega pinsir.

You'll be able to transfer your older Pokemon into Home from how I understood it, so they won't be stuck. They just won't be transferable into Sword/Shield. Although what can you really do with them if they can't be transferred into a game?

The single player is only part of the game, competitive play is really big to many people, and they will have to think of new strategies now that past Pokemon aren't available.

I sure hope not. Having to pay money to get Mew was bad enough. While it looks cool as a decorative item I just couldn't justify spending that much money on a subpar controller and I'm not paying just for Mew either.

i did competitive breeding and battles too xD, i have every pokemon until gen 5 all iv breeded perfecty, and ev trained and perfect moveset all ready for battle :P, it wont have much impact on the no pokemon allowed type of deal because i bet they will put every powerful pokemon into the game and pokemons like sunkern and sunfora and the likes will be out, like forgotten ones, i bet every OU pokemon will make it in.

Likely, what will happen: slow updates

He should--they have his model--then again, they could just make a, "Hey, kids! Download the demo and get a Melmetal with a hidden move!"-ploy and do it that way.

I'm not paying just for Mew either.

So, from a standpoint, in a way, they learned: hide a popular pokemon behind a pay-wall and people will hack our game to get it for free.

I somehow have a feeling most of this, (not many of the older mons with crazy OP haxshit) is linked to all the hackmons floating around, the money spent combating hackmons for flagcheck, as well as the work they put in to release event-mon...maybe they're trying to purge the lands to MPGA?

Truthfully, they seem to have built a labyrinth and lost the map.
I can't be surprised they don't have the manpower or ideas of implementation to make Dynamaxing any more of a thing than megas and Z-moves.

Realistically, Dynamaxing is a stupid idea and they should feel ashamed they didn't limit it to 5-10 mon from each gen, minus legends and mythics and then complain, "It's so much work, waaaahhhh."

--------
Minimilast Lois=GF telling you, "This doesn't bring joy--all of it has to go!"

MPGA?
You have a point though, I never considered it would make people want to hack the game more.
It kinda reminds me of what they did back in the day with exclusive events that were time limited and only in certain places. If you couldn't go there to get the event Pokemon you were basically screwed. Which obviously isn't free either if you live nowhere near the place.

Dynamaxing I have mixed feelings about. It doesn't add much to the game, it's just making your Pokemon more powerful but if you're fighting a Dynamax Pokemon it changes nothing. But the multiplayer raid battles give it a reason to exist, so I guess I'm fine with it.

Well then I tip my hat to you good sir. I got over 200 hours in Pearl but there's no way I'd have the patience to do that much IV/Nature/EV breeding. I did it for a few mons and even that was way too much effort.

Between this and the long list of formulaic changes to the series over the years, I'm just not all that interested anymore... I barely made it through Y and couldn't finish either Sun or Ultra Sun. I think the last ones I honestly had the most fun with were Black/White. This current "problem" they're having is also one reason I've always been skeptical about the rate at which GameFreak added new monsters to the games.

Make Pokemon Great Again.

But, yeah, there's a lot going on; anything is possible.

I wouldn't be surprised if they've been "testing the waters" to literally hide that Dynamaxing is stupid, taxing the devs, and causing more problems than they ever anticipated, which is probably part of their misdirection, so no one should be surprised if they say, "delayed until we get a fucking clue."....unless cursing surprises you. :creep:

Literally just one of the problems with Gen. 8.

I really feel we should wait until September before we cement our feelings/actions.

I was only ever expecting to be able to transfer Pokemon from Let's Go (gen 1), and I still think that will be the case. I don't see any issue with this, either, get the game released and then add all the other models later. Or did you guys want S&S to be stuck in development for 5-6 years?

if GameFreak can not find devs to create a pokemon game.

may Arceus help us all.
I'm not sure what you expect. That they'll hire on a massive wave of new workers to add models to gen8, just to fire them all after the job is done? Training them would be a very time-consuming process in itself, and there's no guarantee that their work lives up to the expected standard regardless.

This compromise was inevitable unless we wanted the franchise to continue using the same engine forever.

pokemon is a simple game.

be the best, like no one ever was. and catch them all.

There really is no reason for this.
Models and animations have been reused since XY with only minor changes (even in LGPE), so Game Freak has ABSOLUTELY NO REASON for cutting the previous Pokemon out of SwSh other than just being a dick about it. I'm willing to bet that most people will be turned away from these games and Pokemon Home after hearing this news, since bringing over old Pokemon to a newer game can have a deeper meaning for some people than you may think.

If developers is an issue then maybe they could get Genius Sonority (the company that made the games on GameCube) to help? We haven't heard much from Genius Sonority recently in terms of a full-scale Pokemon experience, and if you ask me, the best Pokemon games I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing are Colosseum/XD Gale of Darkness on the GameCube.

No company keeps excess employees on board to sit around twiddling their thumbs, no matter how much money they have in reserve.

pokemon is a simple game.
But creating 1000+ HD models from scratch is not a simple task. Especially when the creative director has a particular vision in mind that every one of them needs to conform to. It's not as if they'll never be added, but there's no reason to delay gen8 games to add them either. By the time people are starting to complete the Pokedex for the Galar region, probably another 2-3 generations of models will be available.

Models and animations have been reused since XY with only minor changes (even in LGPE), Game Freak has ABSOLUTELY NO REASON for cutting the previous Pokemon out of SwSh other than just being a dick about it.
Let's Go is very obviously using the same game engine from the 3DS. Sword and Shield are very obviously using a brand new engine.
