Impossible due to lack of tools, essentially the PS2 model is in a completely different format and we have no way to insert/rig custom models for DQ8. This mod was done by editing the default 3DS models (and textures) WITHOUT altering the vert count.

Good to know, that means I can get to work.

Thank you for telling me this and not shooting me down, man.

I have been wanting to use the Dragon Quest 8 and Dragon Quest 7 models for quite some time, but, I have run into quite a few problems...

I'll talk about the problems with the Dragon Quest 8 models for now.

Anyone else know where the extra facial textures for the models are (closed eyes, open mouth, etc)? I've been looking for them for a while now and found nothing, except for a bunch of .xbb files which I think could contain the textures. Also, in Ohana3DS and when exported, the Dragon Quest VIII models' clothing texture goes all funny.

If anyone is curious as to know where I want to use these models, I want to use them in MMD (MikuMikuDance).

The facial expressions are all textures, not actual model animations so you just need to look through the textures for them.
As for the "funny" texture, that's because the model is two-faced, meaning that different parts of the texture are applied on both sides of the model, you need to sort viewing two-faced meshes in whatever 3D software you're using.

Are you able to restore the party's super high tension mode/models from ps2? ( "Super sayian" 8 etc )

It's so weird that THIS of all things got axed, SE doesn't get at all Level-5's stylistic choices
They even prevented DQ11 from getting cool pep up designs too

Haven't checked the whole thread yet so my issue might be solved but I'm just asking in case. I've never used NTR CFW plugins and cheats before so this is all new to me. Every time I try and use it I get a green screen flash and then a crash.

I'm using a EU copy of the game, so I'm using the EU folders. I've put "dq8res" on the root of the SD card, and the folder "000400000018F200" inside of the plugins folder (called "plugin", also on the root).

When I start up my 3DS, I'll go into NTR CFW let it run 3.6 and then go into the game. It'll give me a green screen flash and then crash. Pic related is the error.

Have I done something wrong here?

This has been finished for some time bro, look around the internet, I have both the uncensored and Orchestra OST on the 3DS. I just wish someone would mod the circle pad pro back.

Should just be a matter of taking the "data" folder from the "dq8res" folder and placing it into "luma/titles/000400000018F100/romfs"
Im at a loss here. In my luma/titles folder I have 000400000018F100 but according to FBI my DQ's titleid is 000400000018F200, but I dont have a folder with that name in titles. I created it and dragged the "data" folder (with game patching enabled) to both the title id folders just to be safe and I still see zero changes to the outfits, at least checking Jessica on the equip menu with her Dancer Dress. Am I doing something wrong?

EDIT: fuck me lol. Be sure to create the /romfs folder inside the luma/titles/title id here/ directory. my bad

Greetings,

I am curious to know if it's possible (not asking anyone here to do it, only if it's possible based on what's known of the files) to restore the death screams to the 3DS version.

The PS2 version is my all-time favorite because it's complete and largely left alone from strange alterations.

When one of your party members die in battle, they can let out a death scream. Jessica will yell "ALISTAIR!!", Yangus will say, "nice knowin' ya guv...", I think Angelo says something like "Good god...", etc. These appear to have been removed for unknown reasons from the 3DS version.

If I can restore those, the 3DS version becomes the true definitive.

I've played the PS2 version so much I can hear them say exactly that in my head reading those lines.

I'm not 100% sure about Angelo as you said. I think it's "Dear Goddess" since they worship the Goddess, not God.
