I'm new to modding my Wii, as in I've been working on it for about 2 days. I've followed all the tutorials I can find, but I can't get games to play on my Wii through USB.

I started by downloading Letterbomb and got it to work successfully to install the Homebrew channel.

After that, I went by this guide to get USBloaderGX on it
usb-loader-gx.149922

That seemed to work and I now have it showing up in my homebrew channel. Howver, whenever I try to load a game into it via USB, it shows up, but when I try to lauinch the game, it just kicks it back to the homebrew channel without doing anything else. I've played with all the settings and browsed other peoples questions and answers on here. I made an account just to ask about it.

For the record, I have I believe the last released version of the Wii in the US. Black console, v 4.3U and I'm using the controller that came with it. The only thing I've had trouble getting to work is actually launching a game. I'm using a 64GB usb drive, fully formatted as WBFS using Wii Backup Manager. (Which is also what i'm using to put the games on the drive) The games load onto the drive properly and show up in the USBloader screen, but will just not launch. What am I doing wrong? Also, I can answer any questions needed about it to further identify the issue. I just was unsure what additional information would be relevant right away.

That is not a guide, you still need to install a cIOS. If this is a Wii (not Wii U - I assume it's not but following it on a Wii U may brick your vWii so it's important to be sure) I suggest using ModMii which will generate a tailored guide for you to follow that will install everything you need, with some optional extras: https://modmii.000webhostapp.com/
USB Loader GX is not included in it - but you already have that part set up. It has WiiFlow and Configurable USB Loader instead. I personally prefer USB Loader GX because of the banner view mode, but WiiFlow is also nice.

I would format it the usb drive to Fat32. You can keep the games in wbfs format but I think more people have problems with the hard drive itself using that format. Fat32 I never had a problem.

But in addition to that do what JDBye said.

Sorry I took so long to get back on about it. I spent the last few days trying and it still won't work. I can't get the BootMii loader to install now. Is it possible I will need to format the Wii back to standard and start from scratch?
