Microsoft has given us the official unveiling of the Xbox Project Scarlett, their next gen console. It’s set for launch Holiday 2020, and will be “4x” faster than the Xbox One. Will utilize the power of the cloud. Phil Spencer claims that it will have 120hz support and up to 8K resolution. Halo Infinite will be a launch title.

uh how is this is a question?
I think the question mark at the end gives it away.

But sure you could argue that the sentence is built more like a statement, with the verb placed in its normal position instead of at the beginning of the sentence.

Still, even though the grammar looks dubious, the question mark should overpower the verb positioning. So that is how it is a question.

i completely agree. It comes down to how much the thing will be priced 18 MONTHS from now. Probably close to $500. So althoug i agree, i expect the prices of the components qto have dropped by a lot by Holiday 2020
I don't. NVidia has nothing new on the horizon and AMD only has Navi up their sleeve as far as GPU's go. As I said, you need two RTX 2080's to match the performance of the GPU alone, and that's $2000 right there - you still have to build the rest of the system. A price drop of $1500 would be... Unprecedented, to say the least - the claims are just exaggerated or they're using an arbitrary metric for performance, which is fine as long as the actual spec is acceptable. I'll be happy with 10 TFLOPS, a modest increase from 6 that would enable stable 4K and somewhat acceptable 8K in less demanding applications.

Cloud gaming sounds horrible. You would have to have a gigabit fiber connection (1024 Mb) just to match a 7200rpm hdd speed. I have 300 Mb but even that would only match the speed of a common sd card. How could loading times really be that fast?

Since the rumor is multiple consoles, it would explain why they were being so vague about the disc drive.

Anyway, as I said before, pretty cool you can stream from your console without any streaming services.

They added a feature to Xbox One where you can play Xbox One games on the go using your own Xbox One as a cloud server. Might be what the cloud thing is about.

Also, who needs 8k besides graphic designers and video editors?

Cloud gaming has no future, if people are smart. We would lose way too much by keeping things outside our grasp, like mods. Plus it would kill collections and any preservation effort, not worth it at all.
If talking from perspective of dedicated gamer, it's an easy conclusion; but if being completely honest, majority of players don't really care about neither mods nor preservation - when cloud gaming manages to offer a cheaper and more convenient way to launch games, it'll be pretty much over for standalone games as an industry mainstay.

Hmmm... quite probably, well it sure will look nice, it is a plus, nothing "required" perhaps.
I mean I usually play between 1080p and 4K, and TBH 720p is a little pain on the eye.
And sure 4K does look better than 1080p, but IMHO 1080p is good enough, except on text, there it hurts the eye a little.
Probably 8K will look better than 4K, but only with a big screen and on detailed things that don't move much.
It is always diminishing returns, but it sure looks a little better every time... Hmmm....

4K and 8K TVs are too bloody expensive, no thank you.

If it replaces physical or digital means to download and keep games, I'll either quite games or just pirate them out of spite.

I can actually snag a decent 4k TV for just under $300. If you're going 65in or bigger, it gets up there I guess.

I got a nice 4K TV 2 years ago and it was not expensive really. I guess it is expensive in the USA, perhaps?
No idea. But I guess then 4K might be for other markets.

Yeah I know, people make that comment all the time and TBH you see the difference between 4K and 1080p as clear as day, specially in digital content (video-games) where it stands out way more than on films. It is weird this type of misinformation is so widespread.

I know I'm being a bit of a parrot, but you can clearly see the difference between 4K and 1080p. It just that for me, I don't needed it to enjoy games or any other media, for that matter.

Between 4K and 8K tho? Well, idk.

Amd has already matched the 2080 with the Radeon 7. Radeon 7 has 13 terflops, navi i below that, and they are still using radeon7 as their flagship because its the king of bitcoin mining. Its perfectly doable in 18 months. They can sell at a loss and makeup with up their online services.
