The Final Fantasy VII Remake now has a release date

Square Enix might have stolen Day 1 of E3 without even having a press conference today. The company has announced that the long awaited Final Fantasy VII Remake has a release date, and one within this century, in fact. On March 3, 2020, the first episode of the game will launch on the PlayStation 4.

Rebuilding and expanding upon the legendary RPG for today, FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE tells the story of a world fallen under the control of the Shinra Electric Power Company, a shadowy corporation controlling the planet's very life force as mako energy. In the sprawling city of Midgar, an anti-Shinra organization calling themselves Avalanche have stepped up their resistance. Cloud Strife, a former member of Shinra's elite SOLDIER unit now turned mercenary, lends his aid to the group, unaware of the epic adventures that await him.

I like ff7 and have 100%'d the game long time ago, but I don't see how this game stole the show. The game is only launching for ps4. Plus, isn't the game still split into multiple parts?

Out of curiosity, where did you find that it stated it's a ps4 exclusive?

It was a mistranslation. I ended up changing the OP the moment the English source was available, and didn’t mention anything about being exclusive.
Nice, so it sounds like it'll launch initially on PS4 and come to PC/XB1 later. The only question remaining is how much later.

I'm interested. I played through CD1 of FF7 a few years ago but found it boring as hell. I never finished the game and if I hadn't been convinced it's one of the best games ever I wouldn't have played for more than a few hours. The slow battles, ugly pixelated environments and bland soundtrack have all been reworked in this remake.

In 1997 it was unique and still to this day thousands play it and the characters story sound location's wil always be a part of millions of gamers memory

I wouldn't really say they stole the show, this looks like a lot of the gameplay we have seen already. Plus, you can't beat Keanu.

Glad it isn't vaporware or going to be the next Duke Nukem Forever, though.
It'd be hard to be like Duke Nukem Forever considering Final Fantasy VII already exists and this is just a remake.

Duke Nukem Forever exists too, it was just in development hell for years and years and then turned out to be shit when it was finally released. This would have to be delayed several more times to reach that level of absurdity, though, and there's no chance it turns out as badly as DNF did. And I say that despite the fact that I'm not a huge fan of what they've done with the gameplay changes.

I'm just simply going to wait until all episodes have been released. I have literally 100's of games in my back log. No rush.

Same here. I'm sure when all episodes are out, they'll have a "complete edition" of it, anyway, with extra bonuses. And it'll probs end up on PS5 by that time, so high frame rates?

Finally a reason to actually enjoy my PS4 again and even better it's in my native tongue but I will admit Cloud's English voice is kind of cute but I will always find Zack the better looking one hence why crisis core is so dear to me.

Probably for the best since there's a good chance that it will be sold cheaper as one pack.

Welp, that's what happens when you have multiple tabs open.
