Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX will be releasing September 26

If you remember last year, Inti Creates announced a new game in the Gunvolt series that was in development. Inti Creates paid a visited the Bit Summit 7 game showcase this weekend to reveal more details about the upcoming game. Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX will not star the titular Azure Striker, but instead Copen will be featured as the playable character. This game is described as allowing the player to "experience the apex of 2D action" by exceeding the intense action and speed the previous games had while making it look stylish and remain accessible to newcomers of the series.

The game is due for release September 26 for Nintendo Switch, Steam, and to a surprise, Playstation 4 which marks the first time the series has been feature on the console. The game will be $14.99 digital download and will have DLC with more details about it at a later date. If you missed the reveal, a updated trailer is available to catch you up to speed.

Revealed at BitSummit 7, Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX is coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Steam on September 26, 2019!

I'll snag it if LRG makes a physical copy
It's quite possible the game could be compiled, but it's not likely. The game is $14.99 A compilation of all three on ps4 disc would be nice priced at $40-$60. As for switch, they already have compilation of the two previous games for $40 I don't know if it is in their interest to sell a $15 game retail, that's very uncommon.

Of course I hope the previous gunvolt games come to ps4, and has 4K. been a long time waiting for it. :P

Looks like a mixture of Azure Striker, Mega Man ZX, and Might No 9 (all the dash attacks). *shrug* Haven't really played the Azure Strike very much, though, except that its story sounded really silly. :/

I actually hated playing as Copen so I'm not really thrilled about this game tbh. It doesn't help that Copen is unlikable in Gunvolt 2.

For those unfamiliar, Gunvolt as a universe is basically "Mega Man, but humans with Robot Master Powers". And the villains have these powers cranked up to 15 because of technology or the power of the Muse (AKA the McGuffin).

Excellent series, a DEFINITE if you're a Mega Man X, Z, or ZX fan, but disputably FAR faster paced.

Am I the only one who feel the title could have been better? Azure Striker Gunvolt at least sounds like it makes sense. But Luminous Avenger iX just doesn't seem to sound cool or even explain the lead character in anyway. Doesn't even feature Copen's name.

Finally! I was almost afraid they had forgotten it.
Looking forwards to it! I've loved all the GV games so far! This might be another reason for me to finally get a Switch, although if the Steam port is better than the first, I might just go that route. And then buy it again if I get a Switch. :3
I just want Inti to keep making great games.
EDIT:
Wait, I thought this was going to be a prequel? This looks a lot like a sequel...
Hm...

It's sequal to 2, or else Lola wouldn't have a Muse/Idol form.

He probably doesn't want his name being known since he has part of the Muse's power in Lola. Luminous Avenger might be what they call him, and Ix/iX is what he calls himself as an alias. IX is also part of the "Evo IX" that Mitsubishi sold. Copen/Acura (his english/Japanese names) are both car related too, afterall.

i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling

LLMs can be run on cpu anyway but it's quite slow

I had a girlfriend who had a twin sister and they would mess with me constantly.... Until one chipped a tooth then finally I could tell them apart.... Lol

They would have the same hair style the same clothes everything... Really messed with my head lol

@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think nvidia wants to get in the x64 cpu market anyways

you've seen how much intel is struggling getting into the gpu market

and nvidia is already doing ARM

i don't think they want to take more focus away from their gpus

Yeah I think Nvidia s future lays in AI GPU acceleration stuff if they can get that going it's going to be super interesting in the long term

AI assisted game creation might become a thing

Many TBs of assets and the programming of something like that is going to be tough but I think it's something we might see in 20 years maybe sooner
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Psionic Roshambo AI assisted game creation is kinda already here, there was recently that AI that can turn any 2D image into a fully modeled 3D object, it's not perfect, but it's a starting point, beats starting from zero
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
before that there was one to generate a fully modeled scene from a 2D image
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but most recently, there was one that actually generates a working unity scene with terrain and textures already set up that you can import right into unity, that's a huge time saver right there
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
and using LLMs to generate NPC dialogue and even dynamically generated quests is something i'm sure is already happening
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
will just take some time for games made using those things to be completed and released
