Nintendo Direct focusing on Pokemon Sword and Shield announced for June 5th

Ready for some Pokemon news? Because Nintendo will be giving us a short look at some new information about Pokemon Sword and Shield, prior to E3. On June 5th at 6:00 AM PT / 15:00 CEST, a 15 minute Pokemon Direct will air on Nintendo's YouTube and Twitch accounts.

Prior to the event, The Pokemon Company will be hosting a livestream of their Business Strategy Presentation in Japan, on May 28th, which will focus on "a number of topics of interest to Pokemon fans".

I lost hype for Pokémon games since the 5th gen, but for some reason I can feel it again with this one. Maybe is because is coming to a powerful (for it's series by the first time) console and many development limitations shouldn't be there anymore. I'm really looking forward to this and how the graphical look has been improved since the first trailer.

Don't watch it you guys, you'll just get disappointed and spend the next months shitting on it because you stupidly expected this to be like, that open world mmo game but with Pokemon.
it's gonna be mostly the same as any other mainline game. might even be a little hobbled as many first games on new hardware have been.

note that this doesn't really need to be a bad thing. know what pokemon is, i know what i want from the series and so far, it mostly delivered.

its still basically going to look like the 3ds games/eevee and pikachu, fixed camera and mostly gridbased areas and all

Will be interesting to see. I'm actually looking forward to it, after being on a break from Pokemon for 5 or so years. Hopefully the post-game content won't be as bare-bones as gen 6's.

Came here to say this. If you don't think Game Freak aren't going to put in min work and rack in tons of cash, you my friend are very naive.

We've already seen different camera work in use in the initial reveal, so the typical whinger above/few posts up might be incorrect... However I do suspect not too much of a deviation of course (said camera work probably just there for route/city arrival cut-scenes and the like): like most of the rest on here who are simply hyped for the game - if it ain't broke....;)
Great news all round anyway, not just for us Pokemon fans, but it also means it's gonna get less of a focus on the E3 direct too, like has already been said (ditto with Mario Maker 2)

This means they aren't gonna spam Pokemon at E3, which I didn't expect (they spamming) but it's now deconfirmed!

Hopefully they show legendaries, new mechanics and more about Galar.

47 yrs old. Have been playing video games since the Pong machines that required eight "D" cell batteries & have owned (or at least played) nearly every single console & handheld ever released. Have not ever played a single Pokemon game outside of Snap and Stadium on the N64 when my kids were still pretty little. No desire whatsoever in seeing this Direct. Although I'm well aware that plenty of people are.
