If someone is curious, comparison of sizes:
Code:
AC3:
SFX PC: "1 675 847 kB"
SFX Switch: "606 962 kB"

Eng PC: "471 515 kB"
Eng Switch: "299 892 kB"

ACL:
SFX PC: "668 395 kB"
SFX Switch: "448 159 kB"

Eng PC: "61 460 kB"
Eng Switch: "61 916 kB"

Tested. They are not compatible.
yeah, it's really unfortunated, when swapping sounds_eng.pck the voices don't play, replacing
sounds_sfx.pck
crash the game. PC files used:
Code:
AC3
sounds_sfx.pck = 1.716.125.696 bytes
sounds_eng.pck = 482.869.248 bytes

ACL
sounds_sfx.pck = 684.457.984 bytes
sounds_eng.pck = 62.980.096 bytes

And as I was looking at this topic, changing it will not be possible at the moment.
1. Switch container uses different values for some informations than PC container.
2. Switch uses different IDs for audio files than PC and we don't have informations about their correct filenames except SFX for Switch ACL and files are packed in different order.

So I think it's a lost cause.

In case of splitted NCA you don't have file extensions at all.

They can have file extensions, again the file extension is just part of the file name, it has nothing to do with the file itself...

Example:

Take a text file (.txt for you) put some text in there, rename the file to have a different extension, you pick (like .png, or .wav) and then open the file in notepad. Notice how it still opens?

Eh... I'm talking about one thing, you about another.

there's a good chance that WII U version will match with the Switch regarding the packs above...
so they can be switched :)
Also would be good to have a conf file for graphic settings from WII U (at least partially)
unfortunately it's not in the rootfs folders (I couldn't find it)

I will check in nro if there are settings that can be used with scimitar.ini (first I need to check if it's working)
One setting catched my eye
Code:
/crowdmaxnpc:30
So theoretically it can be pushed to max 255.

yeah, seen it, but on PC it has a separate config placed in Documents/ac3 directory called Assassin3.ini it has lots of settings
probably some of them can be redirected/added to the cmdline of the scimitar.ini (hmm I'll take a try as well :)

The reason? Ubisoft is too damn lazy to properly port over a game that had better sound on the last gen version, despite the horrible framerate on Wii U. This is just pathetic, Switch port isn't even worth downloading/pirating IMO. Glad I got the PC version for 10 bucks lol.

This is just sad, Ubisoft "supports" Nintendo by releasing games, games are half-assed ports, released months after other versions, have many issues with performance, audio, etc and get all upset when said games don't sell well. Go big or go home.

It looks like it's ignored. Cleared file and still looks like nothing has changed. Tried few settings and nothing changed. Probably it needs additional sysmodule called "scimitar_nx_fn.nsp" according to nro.

Looking at other files in the switch version there’s reference to ps3, I guess it’s mostly based on the ps3 version going by that.

True but that's our responsible to contact them and complaint to them. Look at Sonic the Hedgehog film ? Then its our responsible to be heard and don't buy it until they do something about it.

Yes, but since when would Ubisoft listen? I don't recall that ever happening.

Perhaps... Perhaps not. Some of them think that it is a Wii U ported instead of PS4 ported but there is no evidence, thought..

It doesn't really show much of the remastered assets either, and performance is still kinda shoddy on this version, which is sad. I wanted to get it, but I got the PC version instead for 10 dollars. No way can I support a shoddy version of the game, it just enables them to continue to do rushed ports. And a month later mind you.

Digital Foundry found little evidence that the assets used are really much better than it was last gen, at least, on this port.

I understand your pain. This is good for people who don't mind and its great for people on the go then. I will ignored it until one day I might change my mind, who know.

I suggest getting it on another platform like PS4 or PC, Ubisoft is only half-assing ports to Nintendo consoles for lame reasons, which is inexcusable, the Switch is way more capable than this for a seven year-old game "remaster".

I already know about PS4 version.. That's why I am not playing them on PS3/PS4 at all. I might in the future. Right now, I am not into them because I am still not sure about them, lol. :wink:
