The offline update to 8.0.1 went well, as per SD setup instructions.
but suddenly all games will NOT launch, just get the black screen with boot logos then pushed to the hbmenu. The game claims to be "Playing" but selecting the icon again just sends me to the hbmenu again.

I've tried.
- SDsetup sigpatches as well as others, to the same effect
- Reformatted SD, copied the Kosmos files (from SD setup) + My Nintendo folder
- Cleared archive bits
- Installing another game from the HBS shop
- Looking for a crash report or log on the SD card

FYI SDCard formatted as exFat.

This is driving me mad, Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Try holding r when booting a game

YES! thank you, this worked!. ok so it was the kosmos setting "Overside application by default" although in the previous versions this just applied to the album and prevented me from hold R to launch homebrew menu. now that is switched off how do I make the album open up HBM by default, the option is all or nothing now...every title + Album is the HBM or hold R to launch everything properly.

SDSetup doesnt contain sig patches for 8.0.1, if I were you, downgrade to 7.0.0 if you have 9 burnt fuses, this prepares you for Deja Vu "warmboot" in the future, 8.0.0 patched DejaVu

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Also I genuinely dont recommend using SDSetup, this is my opinion, but its gotten too crowded especially the default releases, if you want the best CFW experience just manually download Atmosphere from its Github and download Signature patches by googling. Thats all you really need.

are we still talking about my original issue here? its been solved it was just a kosmos setting. and everything is running fine with these sig patches, from SD setup

exFat, enough said, move over to fat32 and try again.

Delete loader.ini in the atmos directory and try again.

to be honest I'm kinda tired of this being the solution to everything. I tried that with that same result all I got was to wait 4 hours to backup a 400gb sd

Ignore the exfat vs fat32 war, its a basis to complain about bad developing (dont @ me)

Update your loader.ini file. ATMOSPHERE 0.8.8 inverted the default behavior (used to be you held R to load the Album, now it's hold R to load HBMenu). If you're using the old loader.ini then it's set to hold R to NOT load HBMenu. Here's what the loader file should look like now: https://github.com/Atmosphere-NX/Atmosphere/blob/master/common/defaults/loader.ini

thanks, that's actually exactly what my loader.ini looks like now, but is there any way to get back to the old functionality? (album always goes to HBmenu) so I don't need to hold R for anything (other than viewing tho the legit album)

I´m on similar situation than OP (8.0.1 offline install with CdNX, atmos 0.8.9, kosmos 12.1.2, original fat32 card) ... some NSP backups work, other won´t. Already reinstall Atmos, change to Kosmos, updated patches... Looks like I´ll have to backup saves, delete and reinstall those titles.

I just want to clarify, every game(installed on previous 7.x firmware) I've tried (15+) work fine now, with an exfat SD. My Issue is the "Overside application by default" taking over every title not just the Album.

is this normal functionality on Kosmos v12.1.2? can anyone else reproduce this or is it just me?
