During this upcoming E3, the British Academy of Film and Television will be giving a "Special Award" to a gaming company that has innovated the gaming industry, and has made a huge contribution to gaming as a whole. That company is Epic Games. BAFTA will be honoring Epic Games with a title that only eight others have held since the inception of the award in 2003, recognizing their impact to gaming as a whole, through the creation of the Unreal Engine, Fortnite, and Gears of War. Previous winners of the Special Award consist of Nolan North, for his voice acting performance in many major games, "Markus Notch" Persson for Minecraft, and Amy Hennig for her writing in the Uncharted and Legacy of Kain series. Though Epic Games has left an immeasurable mark on gaming history, this award comes at a controversial time, with the Epic Game Store still receiving negative press, and multiple reports of "endless" 70-hour work weeks due to development crunch from overtired employees.

1, the link you provided had only 1 reference to where it got the idea that you can't disable it and that article was proven wrong just now by me searching for burger king near me and it could not locate one. If I can prove it wrong and that's not valid, then one source proving it right should not be enough either. 2, I have been opted out for years now and yes you can really opt out.
Also, that one reference is almost a year old.

EDIT/UPDATE: Decided to track the links back to the original source. Your link points to an APNEWS article from 2018 and that post points to a QUARTZ article from 2017. Neither the 2019 nor 2017 article does much work to prove the new reasons for thinking google tracks while turned off. The QUARTZ article does point to why google tracked while location was turned off, but that method is no longer used for cell ids anyway so that is not a valid source and the other part is from an outdated version of googles terms.

What makes fortnite shit is the parents who used it as a free baby sitter and let there kids play it all hours of the day and get addicted.
