Epic Games is set to receive a BAFTA award for their contribution to game development

Epic-Games-reveal-update-plans-for-the-remainder-of-2018.jpg

During this upcoming E3, the British Academy of Film and Television will be giving a "Special Award" to a gaming company that has innovated the gaming industry, and has made a huge contribution to gaming as a whole. That company is Epic Games. BAFTA will be honoring Epic Games with a title that only eight others have held since the inception of the award in 2003, recognizing their impact to gaming as a whole, through the creation of the Unreal Engine, Fortnite, and Gears of War. Previous winners of the Special Award consist of Nolan North, for his voice acting performance in many major games, "Markus Notch" Persson for Minecraft, and Amy Hennig for her writing in the Uncharted and Legacy of Kain series. Though Epic Games has left an immeasurable mark on gaming history, this award comes at a controversial time, with the Epic Game Store still receiving negative press, and multiple reports of "endless" 70-hour work weeks due to development crunch from overtired employees.

We are delighted to present this year’s Special Award to Epic Games. Having powered the creativity and imaginations of development teams of all sizes over the years – many of whom have gone on to win BAFTAs - it’s right to mark their huge contribution with this Special Award as part of BAFTA’s commitment to celebrating and promoting the very best in games. Epic is at the forefront of the evolution of the global games industry and the impact of their innovation is undeniable.

True, but when they did, they owned it and fixed it.
What are you on about? They just continue on and on, paying off whatever fines they get and donating more to politicians than anyone else.

At least good doesn't force you to use google just to search for youtube videos.
Im not sure what you are trying to say, atleast other search engines can bring you to youtube? You can search for the epic store on any search engine I know about.

The google home when it had a manufacturing defect that caused the touch sensor to keep recording. Google notified people and updated the home mini to disable the touch function on those models. They could of ignored it or said it was not happening, yet they owned it and fixed it.

Typed good instead of google, my bad. Yes, you can find epic on any search engine. I am saying google does not lock you to it for youtube and things like that like epic is for games that they are buying exclusivity deals from.

If you looked at what I said, I said RECORDING, not listening. Yes, it is always listening for the wake word and when it hears that then it starts recording. Also, you can choose what data is shared with google.

Dude, 5 seconds on google and you can find out how to opt out and delete all data. Its not that hard to search for facts before you say something.

And on your original comment about epic vs google it was on a post WITH FACTS of why we don't like then and you decided they were just silly reasons. I hate to tell you, but they are not silly reasons for why I hate epic. Its cause of the stupid bs they keep pulling time after time even tho they said they wouldn't

Yes, and Epic games is totally innocent on that front too. Whoever programmed malware/spyware in Epic's game launcher can fuck off.
To me it looks like they asked a developer to make it possible to get steam friends, and instead of using the api they just located the localconfig.vdf directly. I can see this being mistake and so far it doesnt seem to be a pattern, google on the other hand...

It's a dick thing to do, maybe Epic should just mind their own fucking business on who uses Steam.

*Sigh* the option might be there, but you cant really opt out. Google tracks you no matter what you think they are doing. I dont want to go too far down the rabbit hole of google though on this epic store thread, point is you people are strongly hating on epic for things other companies you seem to love do constantly.
