Hey so what about the ishiruka build of dolphin how well does that run
Normal dolphin with vulkan runs a bit better and is more stable than Ishiiruka with vulkan from my experience

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

only at native resolution
All games I've tested run fine at 2x resolution (~720p)...

Well, I heard many people calling Gamecube Emulation will never happen.

Here we are Ubuntu running on the Switch Overclocked @2ghz

https://twitter.com/EpicLPer/status/1125451836004151297

I don't know if there is already a thread about this.

I think the future will show, how well other tiltes may run and maybe theres light at the end of the tunnel, and we all can stop waiting for a ww hd remake for switch.
finally some good quality handheld mario kart wii! does this work if i install ubuntu with sxos?

This (L4T Ubuntu) and SXOS are completely seperate entities. As in, they litterally have nothing to do with each other, either through software, file tables, configuration, editing, or anything else you can think of.

Basically, you can't use SXOS to install this (there are one or two steps that require a PC, I think). If you want to dual/triple/quadruple/etc. (Horizon/Atmosphere/L4T Ubuntu/Lakka/ReiNX/whatever else I've missed) boot different OSes on your Switch, this is completely compatible, and will have no effect on your other booting options (excluding that it requires 2 partitions. A fat32 [must be 1st partition], and ext4 [I think? It's "Linux (or Linux derivitive) specific"]. ExFAT is incompatible to L4T).

They said it'll never happen on the switch and they're probably right... It isnt the switch it's linux

As far as I'm concerned if my switch can boot into Linux, and LAKKA can run gamecube games at full speed, its happening on my switch. I couldn't care less what OS is running ;-). The fact it doesn't use the standard OS is a massive plus for me, no need to wipe the nand, no worries going online win, win.

But it's running on a overclocked cpu. What's the point if you cant get decent speeds on stock clockspeeds? One of the factors of why it seems nintendo wont ever bother making an official emulator, unless the so called switch pro gets released, if real.
The reason the Switch can pull of some graphical intense games at stock speeds is coming from the fact that there is a custom framework available for developers wich optimizes the tegra chipset. So overclocking is the next best thing on unbuntu.

With 30 fps patch mario kart wii runs almost full speed:

totally agree.

That's just about playable. Audio gets a bit crusty at times which detracts from it, but it's not frequent enough or bad enough to make it unplayable.
I wonder how Skyward Sword runs. I have some occasional slowdowns in that game on my laptop, especially whenever I'm learning new songs it slows down, and the cutscene afterwards is slowed down as well. Might be hard to play though unless you can emulate a Motion Plus using the JoyCons.
Also Super Mario Galaxy is a good one to test, since it looks so visually impressive in HD and seems to be one of the more demanding games on Wii.

well, for me it still didn't happend

we are overclocking the CPU to 2.0 ghz and still the huge majority of games had considerable framerate drops, so yeah...

still i should say is more than i expected but when the switch was released

and for those bitching about "native emulator", why not just use ubuntu? it has a huge amount of pros beside gamecube emulation, im in love with L4T

Mario galaxies are very very unplayables. Run pretty slow.

What settings are being used in Dolphin though? I've tried a whole bunch at 1.7ghz and still never really keeping up to speed. (understanding it's still software in development ofcourse.

I hope it is not the same story:

The cemu team got running botw at 4k 60fps on a ridiculously short amount of time, but none of the other games were at least playable.

is it the same story with mario kart wii? or can i also play double dash and gamecube games like this?

thanks!

I think Double Dash would work. Its an early title and a GameCube one at that so it shouldn't be too demanding.

yes since it only weights less than 500mb. how did i figure out this? with the wii u gamecube injections! the lightest game i have injected is luigi´s mansion weighting less than 300mb. the heaviest game is melee (weights the whole 1.35gb)

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

and the most demanding wii title is Super Smash Bros. Brawl (weights more than 7gb)

The weight of a game has no relation with to be demanding. Smash bros is playable and almost full speed in some scenarios. There are another lightests games with worst performance.

2 ghz. Double dash works almost perfect in 1.7 ghz. Is the first one in this video. With 2 ghz runs even better at 60fps

Size has very little to do with how demanding a game is. See https://dolphin-emu.org/blog/2018/07/21/myth-debugging-wii-more-demanding-emulate-gamecube/

I disagree. It's fine to show off as a "look what this can do", but in terms of actually enjoying playing then it's got a very long way to go.

The annoyance of having to use linux and a hefty overclock makes it less likely that I'll ever bother with it (but then I already have a wii so why would I?).
