I'm sure there a very scientific and precise ways to catch a ball very quietly. I myself have tried my best to catch a baseball as quietly as possible. Lol but I don't really know a physics type answer for this but what if you had gloves on that were thickly padded with a soft foam?

If you trap air it will create a slapping sound as it escapes, like a belly flop
