The Tales of franchise has surpassed 20 million sales

tOv20mil.jpg

This year saw the release of Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition, an upgraded re-release of one of the most well-received entries in the series, and which also helped the franchise top 20 million total sales. The first Tales of game released all the way back in 1995, on the Super Famicom, in the form of Tales of Phantasia, and would later spawn a popular JRPG series which now has 16 mainline titles as of the most recent game, Tales of Berseria. There have also been a multitude of spinoffs, re-releases, and mobile games, such as the 3DS port of Tales of the Abyss, multiple versions of Tales of Phantasia, and the now Japan-only Tales of the Rays.

It's for this exact reason I have the collectors editions of each game since Symphonia (except Bersaria and Zesteria due to monnies) stashed away safe and sound in the folks attic. Gorgeous shelf pieces, can be rather rare and just generally great games.
The only games I have stashed are Suikoden, Suikoden II, Tales of Symphonia, Baten Kaitos and Baten Kaitos Origins.

I know the feeling, though I think they should find another loving parent...

Thanks, yeah I was actually wondering if anyone here would recommend a better game in the series for me, though I figured Symphonia would be cool for the coop. I have tested Tales of Phantasia and it seems pretty cool, especially since it is strictly 2D so getting confused on how to go ahead and go back seems less possible. I don't think it is coop, though? I did like the music and graphics style of Symphonia though.

Every game in the series but the first (and even then, you can get a patch for the SNes Phantasia ROM to make it multiplayer) is Co-op IIRC.

PS1 Tales of Eternia is a good start for the 2D games, as is Tales of the Abyss for the 3D games, but the best overall 3D entry by far is the PC version of Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition.
PS3 Tales of Graces F has the best 3D combat. For 2D, PSP Tales of Phantasia Cross Edition (Japanese only) is the best entry.

This is all subjective, ofc.

my most fav series, hoping it will do even better.
we need a real sequel of a tales game, after vesperia/graces the games went abit downhill, i did enjoy xillia/2 and heck even liked zestiria/berseria.

but i hope we go abit to how the games were in the past.

Alright, I would have let it go but I understand now. The reason why Chary refuses to post real sources is that she is afraid that people may call her out for stealing other sites’ articles.
How exactly are you making that argument after you copy pasted a Siliconera article wholesale and stuck it on the front page? Of all the people to accuse of being lack with their stance on plagiarism, you'd be the prime target, by a pretty massive margin.
Plus that girl is still salty that a mere non-native english speaker like myself wrote better news posts with proper crediting than she ever did. That’s she reason why she likes to use the salt excuse whenever referring to me. To mask her own saltiness. Lulz.
Oh, for sure. That's why, in your short time on Magstaff, you had to be asked to correct embarrassingly fundamental grammatical mistakes in your "better news posts" multiple times. On top of that, when Thug did you a kindness by stealth-editing your elementary mistakes without having to confront you directly, you threw a fit and started shouting. But you know what, you're right, she's just jealous of your big boy super writing good news doing powers.

Let's be absolutely frank, here:
I am the cancer that GBAtemp got rid of in order to regain its journalistic credibility.

Explain to me who WiiUBricker is...I was never here when he was magazine staff. Explain why he's cancer.

Just your average resentful person that is unable to move on and frequently puts on sad vengeful tantrums that cause vicarious embarrassment on everybody else.

And the World Health Organization has proven that a daily dose of vicarious embarrassment increases the risks of cancer. Fact.

What Tales game do you recommend to start with?
Tales of the Abyss gets my absolute top recommendation for first Tales game. It's got modern-esque combat, with not too many technicals, so it's easy to get into.
Vesperia has a decently low skill floor, but what I'd consider a very high skill ceiling, so while it's also easy to get into, it also benefits from a super technical and tight combat system.
Symphonia is a bit dated with its more rigid combat, and lack of free run, but it's a fan favorite, so it may be up your alley. Just don't expect all the modern amenities.
Graces F is HIGHLY beloved, but it's also a bit technical, and getting the most out of it required understanding some of its less obvious mechanics. Still, I adore Graces F.
With Tales, it's really hard to go wrong. o3o
