Hey guys, wassup. Just need a bit of your help. I don’t know da wae.

I currently can’t buy SX OS because my parents won’t let me.

If I want to play games online like Fortnite, I would backup my NAND, add reiNX/Atmosphere and restore when I want to go online with non pirated games like Fortnite.

But when I need to play nsp games again, then what will I do? And how will save files be maintained separately for sysnand Fortnite and nsp by CFW? Does checkpoint.sav have save file for every game? Is checkpoint used for Fortnite save too?

I don’t EVEN fully understand the paragraph above the above paragraph “If I want to play games online...”

So please help me with this

Why won't they let you get SX?
Because it’s not for free and it was very difficult to convince them the first place to even get me a Switch, so they bought it for me when I got good grades. They just don’t like to spend money on things that are “not useful”

Simply backup NAND with hekate. Also you might use a different micro sd card for clean NAND and CFW.

Uhhhhhhh:(. This process is very confusing, just the kind of nature I have...

Please answer my questions with serial numbers:D

1-what do you mean I might??

2-What if I don’t?

3-I need to make a backup of clean Nand with Fortnite too right?

4-I also would need to upgrade my SD card, is that possible, when I googled, people asking had non hacked Switches?

5-Both backups are in same SD card?

6-And isn’t checkpoint used for this?

7-Does checkpoint.sav have save for every game?

8-And is it separate too for sysnand and hacked Nand?

You are an angel for the way you help, thank you so much man, I really really appreciate your help

1) I would use a different micro sd card because going online with CFW files on the micro sd is a bit risky imo.
2) You could get banned.
3) Yes. Always create a new backup after you have played.
4) ???
5) If you use two sd cards, no.
6) Yes but you can't run Checkpoint on clean OFW because you need hombrew afaik.
7) Checkpoint worked for me for every game. But for games like Fortnite it won't work because your save is not on your console but on the Fortnite servers.
8) No, you always use the same NAND but once clean and once with CFW.

Ooooh, that would be for paladins too then. If I restore my clean Nand, my Fortnite and paladins save won’t be affected.

For 4th I mean, in future if I want to use greater size micro SD card, would I be able to? And how? I would also want to transfer all nsp games data to them

Does checkpoint.sav, the single file, have save for every game present?

And how would I make and restore Nand for both every time? This is the most confusing part again...

If you upgrade to bigger sd card, simply copy and paste everything to the new card.
Use hekate for creating and restoring backup.

I would suggest you to do a backup before running a cfw.
you can do it with Hekate.
and yes you can upgrade your SD cards easily. I'd recommend you a 128GB SD card if you can afford one. or go for a 64GB instead.
As cfw goes I'd suggest you to use atmosphere with the kosmos bundle.
if you need more help feel free to message me.

Wow, first person in history of gbatemp to say that

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Hmm, is kosmos bundle free and I have heard people say that reinx is easy to use..
Do I really need a separate micro SD card?
When I would create a backup before running CFW, and want to play online in Fortnite, I’ll restore it and when I want to go to play nsp games, then what?

Before running cfw make a backup and store it on your PC somewhere safe.
Yes ReiNX is plain simple but atmosphere/kosmos are updated more often and are generally more compatible with stuff.
You can do a backup of your hacked NAND with cfw if you want to revert back to your hacked switch fw.
Note that in order to prevent fuses from getting burnt it is advisable to keep autorcm on as booting through the stock bootloade without atmosphere/hekate will otherwise burn your fuses, thus making it impossible to switch between nand backups.
Rename your stock unhacked NAND backup folder to "stock NAND backup" and the NAND backup of the hacked fw to "hacked NAND backup"
that way you won't get confused

Thank you, this clears a lot of my confusion. But what on earth is this? :O

I have never seen this, and what fuse?

When I restore my different nands each time, i would just have to copy the Nand files to some place in my PC? Any other hack stuff or CFW stuff which is necessary to cut? And put in PC?
Cut right, not copy?
Also, how long does it take to restore each NAND? I feel like it can get annoying

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

So for putting in PC after cutting, I don’t need an extra micro SD card

dont make it too complicated.
1. use one micro sd card
2. install hekate + atmosphere
3. make a backup
4. done

- if u want to play online, just run your switch like normal.
- if u want to switch playing nsp. load cfw using hekate.

- then if u want to play online, u need to restore nand. thats the only solution.

Your switch will burn fuses if you boot to OFW without custom payload. That's why it's recommended to install autoRCM. For example if you upgrade from 5.0.0 to 7.0.0 and you boot normally to the OFW, your switch will burn fuses up to 7.0.0. If you try now to restore your 5.0.0 backup and also want to boot normally to the OFW, your switch will stay at black screen. Therefore you should always use autoRCM if you don't have EmuNAND.
To create and restore a backup, it takes about one hour but it depends on your micro sd card speed. It will annoy you soon, believe me. That's why it's good to have EmuNAND which currently only SX OS supports.

Your switch has very very small hardware fuses. After an update your switch will boot to OFW with Nintendo boot loader. It detects that there are too less fuses. For example you upgrade from 5.0.0 to 7.0.0. 5.0.0 has 6 burnt fuses. 7.0.0 has 9 burnt fuses. Your switch will detect that your on 7.0.0 but only have 6 burnt fuses and burn three more. The problem is now that if you restore your 5.0.0 backup and want to boot without payload, your switch will see that your on 5.0.0 with 9 burnt fuses and therefore stay at black screen. SX OS doesn't magically solve this issue but allows you to have SysNAND and EmuNAND. If you want to keep your fuses not burnt, you have to install autoRCM and update with ChoiDujourNX to make sure autoRCM is installed after update. Because if you update without ChoiDujourNX, autoRCM is gone after update.
