Hello,

i bought an used New Nintend 3ds (Monster Hunter Edition).

Everytime i try to power it up, it shows the following Message: "An error has occurred. Hold down the POWER Button to turn off the power, then turn it on and try again. For help, visit support nintendo com".

I checked all the ribbon cables, they are all conected.

I tried it with and without the SD-Card.

The only file on the SD-Card is a folder named "System Volume Information"

I searched the internet for quite a while now but i didnt find any fix.

I hope some of you can help me

It won't do anything as there is no arm9loaderhax.bin or boot.firm on the SD card. He never specified if it was hacked or not.

According to the seller it was not.

Yes the same message appears if i start it without the SD-Kart/SD-Kart slot

It is where 3DS store the Operating System data on, if it corrupted the system won't boot correctly, you sure it is not a hardware problem?
Ah okay, i will lookup all the cables/connectors again and will then report back.
I had a spare Wifi Antenna lying around so i tried it and nothing did change. But at least i know that the antenna is working xD

hearing sound but black screens sounds like bsod's that @TurdPooCharger knows all too well about. I think there was a finding on what caused that one.
Considering that his 3DS is not hacked, CTRTransfer is his only way of repairing it anyways.

Ribbon cable problems mostly do the same stuff. You hear a pop and 3DS immediately shuts off (which isn't your case if I understand it correctly).

So does it still crash or you just getting a black screen?

No it does not pop and shut immediately off.

The known type of "black screens of death" on the N3DSXL is caused by a bad camera module. This was found out in this thread (quite a bit to read if you start from the beginning)
https://gbatemp.net/threads/new-3ds-xl-screens-only-display-recovery-mode.515760/page-2#post-8233328

The problem described there resulted in black screens in normal mode (no error message) and fully working recovery mode (hope I remember this correctly).

Thank you, but i forgot to mention that i already tried that.

The Wifi Lamp turns on and i can hear sound but the screens stays black.
Here we have black screens in recovery mode… since you already opened the console, it might be worth a try to start it while having the camera disconnected.
