I've seen this confusion that some users have caused.

1) If your Switch is able to run RCM exploit, you're fine. Your Switch won't suddenly turn in to a paper weight if you run AutoRCM.
2) Any Switch that is iPatched shouldn't ever do AutoRCM! Not until SciresM, Rei, Tux or someone else manage to find a sneaky way to boot iPatched units with RCM exploits (maybe never...).

The ONLY THING 8.0 does is to patch the Deja Vu software exploit. It's a warmboot exploit, that abuses the system after it booted to normal Switch operation.

So no bricks, no sadness. Wait for SXOS, Atmosphere and ReiNX to get updated. Then keep on do what you always do.

Thanks! I don't get why everyone is acting like they could ever install autoRCM on ipatched units.
You can install autoRCM on FG patched systems, it’ll turn your switch into a $300 brick though :feelsbadman:
(that can only be fixed if you have your secure boot key and tsec key and do a hardmod)

So basically don't update because we will get Warmboot on 7.0.1!! :D

BUT.

If you want to still be using JIG + Dongle forever then update.

Has there been any eta for patched units being able to run deja vu, or more importantly launching fw? Or is this theory crafting about something that will not see the light of day for a year or so?

The writeup is public now, and people are working on the code as we speak. If you kept your patched unit on 4.x, expect it very soon. 7.x might have a long wait. Sliding scale in between.

Yes that's what I understand so far xD
So from what ive heard it wont be persistent, meaning you will have to do something every boot, now will you need a modchip or jig/pc, no as far as i can gather you will need to load a certain website or game before you can start loading homebrew, only systems that can have true coldboot stuff are 4.1.0 and prior systems from what i hear
