Super Neptunia RPG delayed yet again, PS4 version will have two scenes mildly censored for the west

maxresdefault.jpg

Fall 2018 was when RPG fans were due to get their hands on Super Neptunia RPG, a sidescrolling turn-based game featuring the quirky cast of the Hyperdimension Neptunia series. Unfortunately, the game was delayed at the last second, pushing it back to a tenuous "spring 2019" window. Now, we're facing the same situation once more, as Super Neptunia RPG's launch date has been changed to summer 2019, meaning a delay of almost a full year for the localization alone. To make up for that, Idea Factory International has announced that the game will be coming to Steam at the same time as the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch versions. An exact reason for the delay was not disclosed, but the company did mention that the game will be modified in the west, but only on the PS4. Two CG scenes from the Japanese version have been "slightly censored" to comply with Sony's rules, though this will be the only change from the original release. Those playing on Nintendo Switch and PC will be unaffected by this.

Story
The self-proclaimed hero, Neptune, awakes in a familiar world, but has no recollection of anything other than her name. With the help of a mysterious girl named Chrome, as well as three other familiar faces beloved in the Neptunia™ series, Neptune embarks on a journey through the mysterious dimension to try to regain her memory.

Little do they know, the world they inhabit is under attack by an enemy who wants to take civilization back to the time where 2D reigns supreme.

Can Neptune and her friends save the world and 3D games as we know it, or will they be flattened into two dimensions forever?

Cool, would you say I should just dive into the game or should I watch the anime to get some background?
Just dive into the game. Watch the anime after you've played Re;birth 2 and 3. The anime borrows a bunch of plot elements from those games, and having watched the anime inbetween playing 2 and 3, i felt a little disappointed when i knew what was around the corner at almost every turn in the 3rd game.

Just announced: all swastikas to be blurred out, all blood to be green in new Wolfenstein games on PS4. /s

You say that, but...

Sometimes I'm glad I'm primarily a Switch/PC gamer.

With them releasing Yakuza Kiwami 2 to PC now, I may become this very soon, especially if Judgement, the 3-5 remasters (which could be playable via RPCS3 very soon, but still), 6, Shin Yakuza, and all future subsequent releases come to PC. Perhaps add in Dead Souls and the feudal era games in English on PC (Kenzan's entire story is translated, and there are people working on Ishin! for PS3, thank Christ!) for the sake of completeness?

Ruh oh. SOME people going to be awfully upset that the underage girls are getting an age raise and more clothes put on them. If the censorship of that sort of thing bothers you, there's a place called the dark web and a browser called Tor that I'm sure you'd find a lot of pleasure in. Sickos.
"This is an anime game, and despite none of the characters having a stated age (or even any idea what was censored) I'm going to assume they are all 3-6 years old so I can have moral outrage about something! By the way here are instructions on how to get the real thing where there are actual victims and lifelong consequences for everyone involved:"

The thing with fictional characters is that even if the creators did state that they were below whatever age is deemed morally acceptable to be portrayed in a sexualized manner, they are fictional characters. I will never have any interest in this game or others like it and barely even like anime, but art is art and censorship always deserves to be criticized, no matter the subject matter.

"But muh censorship!" please. Pantywaists.
Who are the pantywaists in this scenario? I always see you (rightfully) going against censorship. Does that only apply when it's material you agree with? Or did I misread the tone of your post?

Example, The Simpsons in taking Stark Raving Dad from circulation. There are better ways of approaching it other than censoring it, kind of like how WB doesn't censor their non PC episodes of Looney Tunes, they say they preserve them for historical reasons, but that said episodes don't reflect their standards. This is the Looney Tunes Golden Collection on DVD, they don't censor them, but leave them in while advising viewer discretion. Censoring episodes and acting like they don't exist doesn't fix the problem, it's only burying your head in the sand and solves nothing. Censorship hasn't really helped much, at all. Name one good example of censorship.

Edit: I swear they pulled it because of social pressure, and were forced to do it in fear of boycott.

There isn't one. I'm on your side, I just wanted to make sure. And the reason the game is censored is because Sony just recently started going 80s-90s Nintendo on the PS4. They put a lens flare over an ass crack in the new Devil May Cry game lol.

Wow, Sony is just pathetic when it comes to this.

You'll have to ask them. But there are other scenes that are still censored, across ALL platforms.

Moot. I already said that they UNcensored the butt crack.

That feels like they re okay with "realistic" looking character, but not with anime looking ones

Which is worse
