Why would anyone bother? Brain Age isn't that expensive.

but for the cold boot hack which saves you having to load the haxchi app after boot(it auto boots that app at bootup) you need a very cheap nintendo eshop title..

CHBC is exceedingly dangerous (random corruption, a wrong button tap in settings, etc = brick) and saves near-zero time - tapping an icon on the home menu after booting isn't a huge deal. And very little even needs Haxchi. Just games from a different region, disc only games, emulators and DLC. Most games have versions in all major regions and most games have no DLC. So it's not like one would even need to run Haxchi most of the time.

Haxchi itself requires the DS title, not CBHC. CHBC is just a configuration of Haxchi.

The other topic was in my opinion more fitting, since Haxchi and CBHC are already free - only an original copy of Nintendo digital game you need to install them isn't free, and only Nintendo has any saying on its price (unless a way to correctly sign tickets is found, yeah suuuure)

or, in other word, the computer does what the operator tells it to do (and if you're using the builtin cfw as you are recommended to, you are protected from "a wrong button tap" since it will block overwriting or uninstalling the exploit title, while a factory reset needs well more than one tap) :)

Yeah, this is a nonsense non-technical take. It's not 'part of the boot chain'. It's an application that is executed upon completion of boot that, if a byte is wrong, if it is modified unintentionally, if anything goes wrong.....you are unable to launch the home screen. You're trapped.

The rest of your take sucks too. The added connivence is minimal, but the risk is great. The bigger risk is the one you can't control, that being corruption occurring on the crappy Wii U eMMC. More than a few people have bricked that way.

Using CBHC is playing with fire for so, so little gain.

Wii u usb loader?

Can we use Wi usb Loader to download Brain Age and install haxchi like that?
No! This will brick the console as it wouldn't be a legitimate title purchase, preventing the console to launch Brain Age on boot.

It's not 'part of the boot chain'.
It is, as long as it's set as the default app - that's the whole principle it relies on: if the default app is missing or unusable, it's going to be a problem regardless of whether that's Wii U Menu, Brain Training, some alternative to Wii U Menu for developers, or something completely unrelated

The bigger risk is the one you can't control, that being corruption occurring on the crappy Wii U eMMC. More than a few people have bricked that way.

Of course whether that's a worthwhile tradeoff is inherently subjective - aren't we modding our consoles to escape someone telling their way is the only right way? :)

'Cockpit error' is a shitty way to look at the world. The tool in question is widely used by people who don't understand the risks or the purpose of the tool. Almost no one even needs Haxchi; the vast majority of what people do with hacked Wii Us - play pirated games - works on OFW. Haxchi is just for out-of-region games (which itself can be done without Haxchi, but I'm not going to pretend that novices know how to modify the relevant file without bricking) and DLC and emulators. Oh, and the five or six disc only games.

We should be encouraging people to use safe (enough) tools, not unleashing bricks onto the world. Nothing is perfectly safe, but CBHC is so fragile that it is morally iffy to recommend it.

We're talking about people opening themselves up, unknowingly, to massive brick risk in exchange for a minor connivence gain.

Mocha CFW is free and is comparable to Haxchi. Instead of opening a DS title, however, you use the internet browser instead.

There is no free coldboot alternative to CBHC. However, this could one day lead to a free coldboot exploit similar to CBHC. Instead of using a NDS title, it will use vWii. However, since the Wii U is scene is largely dead, it looks likely nobody will ever put in the time and effort to do this.

However... There's one plausible vector that could be used to create a much safer alternative to current methods.
Leveraging this bug from the vWii environment, for example, could grant a nice boot(ish) time CFW by combining some form of contenthax in a way that entering vWii mode would launch the boot1hax payload, reset the console and send you right into a CFW. The total time spent on this would be minimal and it would create a dual-boot environment where you could hold down the "B" button on boot to jump into CFW or do nothing to land on the vanilla OS. That is, of course, if you wouldn't mind sacrificing your vWii channel for a while (it would then be possible to restore it from within the CFW environment, so that's not really an issue).

Blahblah is right. Cbhc is extremely dangerius.
I never used it because I'm an advanced user and I comprehend the risk.
Some time ago I changed my user id in system files. Everything seemed ok. Then an update has come. I let it update. After that haxchi stopped working because system guessed I deleted the user that bought the ds game.
Luckily I was not using cbhc. If I did, it was a brick for sure. I hope this story give you an idea of the risk of speed up the proccess of tapping a button after boot.

I understand the op.
Haxchi itself is free but the games on which it depends are not
They are very cheap butI It also depends on the wiiu eshop.
So what if wiiu eshop closes.

It would be great if some clever person finds a way to Install haxchi over for example a system app like health and safety....
