People think they're smart because they've turned off auto updates.

It´s difficult to say "when is the right time to update"
Turn off the updates completely is not a good idea.
To hang up updates is also not a good idea.
Today its sadly important to keep your hardware really uptodate (not only the graphic driver alone). In previous times/windows versions its not so important but Windows 10 is merciless with this.Thats where most of the update troubles comes.Outdated drivers/tools/software.And Windows 10 irons upon it when its update time.

So every single user have the choice, leave updates outside and have a peaceful time until nothing goes or have the risk to update immediatly when its update time.Little of russian roulette for some users,i understand it when they don´t want updates. This "politic" is another story.......

Personal i can nothing say about this,in the last 2 years i have only one greater issue but its affected lots of users.

You can always delay feature updates, and many businesses actually block feature updates from deploying to their systems due to how often it breaks things. Like how RSAT has to be reinstalled for every new version, even though the tools themselves generally stay the same.

As I just said in another thread, support for Windows 7 ends in ten months. So, not quite for life.

Yes quite for life!

What you think that just because support ends that means Windows 7 will just suddenly cease to work? You realize XP has been OOL for awhile now, yet there are still many people using it! Windows 7 will be no different. The thing that will force a lot of people to switch is when they decide to switch to new hardware that doesn't have driver support for Windows 7. Other than that, Windows 7 will continue to work smoothly and amazing as always!

And realistically, people who are still on Windows 7 are better off NOT taking any further Windows Updates because Microsoft isn't making Windows 7 a priority. So instead of getting "Security and Bug Fixes", you're gonna be getting Windows 10 SPAM, which will include popups and other nagging, telling you to "Switch to Windows 10" and how "amazing it is", and how you're "missing out". But realistically, the only thing you'll be missing out on is BUGS, SPYWARE, and BLOATED GARBAGE!

If you can't stay on Windows 7, then your best bet is to switch to Windows 8.1, install Classic Shell if want the Start Menu back, and download W10Privacy to help get rid of some of the "pre-Windows10 garbage" that started making it's way into Windows 8.1 before WinBlows 10 arrived.

For security reasons alone, nobody should be using Windows XP.

Hey, that's not such a bad thing, though. I didn't realize they were gonna keep supporting Win7 past 2020 at all. DX12 support is what keeps me on Win10, however. It would have to be Vista levels of bad to make me stick with DX11.

Yes, but it's not free. And hey, if people want to pay, that's not my problem :creep: I got my upgrade of Win 10 and Windows 7 for free (through my university), so I'm not paying squat. I've had nothing but stable operation of Windows 10, unlike 7 that decided to shit out on me and wouldn't let me use screensaver or standby without it crashing.

So you think your personal data can be accessed on Win10, but it can't be accessed on an OS that's years out of date? XP is easy mode for hackers at this point.

Your personal data is safe on Windows 10, not on an exploitable system.

Jesus Christ, could you guys be anymore obvious that you don't have the slightest fůcking clue on what you're talking about? You guys think you need to be worried about HACKERS? LMFAO! You need to be more worried about the IDIOTS who work at Micro$hit, not the HACKERS! SMFH

ROFL, this guy. Try a fresh install of Windows XP, and I guarantee you that somebody will have complete remote control of your PC before you can finish installing any of the service packs.

And I haven't had a single one of the issues in those clickbait articles, sorry to burst your bubble. Maybe it's only because I'm running on Win10 Pro, who knows. Either way, I'd gladly take some minor issues with updates that I can fix on my end over an easily-compromised system that can be accessed by the Chinese/Russians/anybody on the internet.
