If you haven’t gotten around to playing 2008’s Castle Crashers yet, you might be pleased to learn that Castle Crashers Remastered is headed to the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4, following the PC and Xbox One releases by a few years. This version of the game comes with a few new features over the original, such as having 60fps support, a new mini game, weapon balancing, and inclusion of all previous DLC. There will also be slight platform respective bonuses; the Switch version will have HD Rumble, while the PS4 gets player-dependent DualShock lightbar colors. Castle Crashers Remastered will be crashing onto the Switch and PS4 later this summer.

On stuff like the PS4, I agree. The Switch, on the other hand, isn't as big of a problem IMO as someone who goes to a college that's an hour drive, finding a parking spot included. But that's just me.

ports are only good if they bring the game to a (truly) wider audience.
releasing something for platform x and some time later for platform y doesn't truly expand the audience. the game is readily available and you can go get the platform it was released if you really cared.
on the other hand if something gets released in platform x but only on region x and then it gets released for platform y for region x and y then you are truly expanding the audience. see danganronpa as an example of that.
another good example is when the port adds features that greatly expand the game. see tales of vesperia definitive edition and odin sphere leifthrasir as examples of that.

and before you say "but what about the people that didn't had the platform where said game was released?", my answer is that if they didn't even bother to get said platform then they didn't really wanted to play the game. if you want something you go and get it, simple as that. I know not everyone has big bucks to get everything they want, but after some time prices go down and things get affordable, so even without ports you'll be able to get the platform and game you want.

It's not a port, and neither does it have anything to do with Nintendo exclusively. Popular games were starting to get remasters well before Switch was released.

I did, not that it makes much difference. The trend of remasters was going to happen with or without Switch, and regardless of whether anyone is cheering for it or not. Who wouldn't want to make more money off of games that have already completed development? It's a publisher's wet dream.
