Developers behind Hyper Light Drifter announce their latest game

Heart Machine released their hit game Hyper Light Drifter three years ago, gaining acclaim as one of the best indie titles of that year. Now, the developer has revealed their next project, titled Solar Ash Kingdom. A colorful trailer shows off some of the visuals, and that it won't be 2D like Hyper Light Drifter was, but otherwise, the team hasn't explained what kind of game Solar Ash Kingdom is. So far, it's only been announced for PC as an Epic Games Store exclusive, though it will likely get a release on consoles in the future.

Feels like Zelda on shrooms with a bit of Dark Souls mixed in, I love it already. I hate the fact that they're making it Epic store exclusive, though. Guess I'll have to wait until it releases on consoles to buy it, although not necessarily to play it. :P

I disagree with you guys. I’ll probably have to buy it day one. Heart Machine is one of the developers I’d WANT to switch over to Epic Store for
They're a good developer, but that doesn't negate the fact that Epic is engaging in dirty business practices by isolating third-party games as "exclusives" to their storefront. If their launcher was feature-packed and worth using in the first place, they wouldn't need such a ham-fisted strategy to attract users.

I'll keep supporting Heart Machine, but I'm not going to support Epic if I can avoid it. Since this will also be coming to consoles, it is avoidable.

Can someone explain me the hatred toward Epic Games Store?

The controversy surrounding Metro.. If you don't know this then a quick Google search is in your future.

It's also the least secure of every game store on PC. Some people look at it as supporting the developers. However, with their newly found anti-consumer actions.. Epic is hurting themselves and devs that put their game on the store.

You do whatever you want to. They could put Halo on the store and I'd never make another account or re-download their launcher.

Metro.. Lack of customer support for customers losing their account... Exclusive titles...

Not much to explain, it's the most barebones launcher available in terms of functionality and feature set, and as Memoir mentioned, it's also not very secure. Epic is also the first to make third-party PC games exclusive to their storefront. Even EA of all companies had the good sense to only do that with their own games when they left Steam.

Was it dev's decision to release it only on Epic store or did Epic bribe the dev to make this their exclusive??

Epic are most likely paying the publisher to have it as a (timed?) exclusive.

I wonder why there are so many exclusives on the Epic store lately... I still can't get behind that.
