I would like to use the 3ds to turn on my ps2 slim, xbox 360, ps3, tv etc. Is there an app or hardware that allows this at this time?

It should not need explained but I guess it does lol. The 3ds lacks Bluetooth built into it that would be needed for ps3 ps4 XBOX 360 ect. Ps2 can only be switched on by the on button.

Also can't be used as a TV remote because the IR blaster in the 3DS is a low-power, short range one for close proximity communication. You would need to place the 3ds next to the TV which would render it pretty much pointless as a TV remote.

ps2 can be switched on by ir. I should know since i do it daily. Xbox 360 does not have a single part that is bluetooth. If we are going to help, lets at least have facts to back our statements.

Sorry for ps2 slim I did not think it had ir as the ps2 phat does not have it unless you bought the IR add on that plugged into a controller port so as you could use the dvd remote and besides the 3ds would still need to be next to the ps2 for the IR blaster to work. Just Google 3ds blaster range. Oh and as for the Xbox 360 even though its not technically Bluetooth it is still not going to work with the 3ds sorry. And there is also fuck all need to be rude to someone who is just trying to help you.

Oh and just putting this thread here as an example of one of the many things on the internet that explains why the IR on the 3ds would not work on a tv

Edit and just found out only model 50000 and higher unit ps2 slims, have the IR sensor built into them, which can power on/off the system if you have the remote control. So that means there are ps2 slims with lower numbers that also don't have the IR built in.

Lets get educated and drop the profanity. You came in here starting off stating (It should not need explained but I guess it does). We need to be part of the resolution not the problem. The ps2 slim does not need a ir adapter. non of them did. I have a scph 50001N model fat and that does not need a Ir adapter either. I just turned it on with the remote as well. There was no 5k model slim. only 7k and up. For your educational purposes i have provided the wiki on the ps2. You are very welcome.

That is a bummer that we cannot use this port on the 3ds. Thank you for the link.

A person that uses profanity has a lazy mind.

For the record I'm Scottish and we are blunt and to the point nobody here would have seen anything I said to you as rude but as you seem to think it was then sorry. Also everybody swears here all the time so sorry if my swearing offends you. And if it does I would love for you to come here and tell someone they have a lazy mind lol.

Again this tells you that not all ps2 had ir

Doesn't exist, but if you insist on being that lazy you can build it yourself. You won't be using the built-in IR on the 3DS though, as it's not strong enough. Buy an ESP8266 IR blaster. You can learn more about how the blaster works here:
https://www.instructables.com/id/Easiest-ESP8266-Learning-IR-Remote-Control-Via-WIF/

Now, you can write your own 3DS homebrew to make HTTP calls to the IR blaster. Or, if you don't feel like doing that, the webpage it serves is so simplistic you can probably just use the 3DS browser.

Or, you can use a smartphone which will probably easier to use and more readily-accessible than your 3DS anyway.

but anyway entering the browser on your smartphone takes time and standing up just takes 5 seconds. besides it is free

-snip-
lol

Anyways, wouldn't it just be easier and faster to turn them on manually? The 3DS isn't exactly fast.
