Hey, what's up ?

I have one question;
I'm no longer the trend of the switch, I would like to get back to it but I said that the sx os was a little outdated, in this case I would like to know the difference between atmosphere and sxos, thank you!

I gues on earth.
XP

AMS:
Telemetry blocking
7.0.X support
Reboot to CFW
Proper shutdown for autoRCM users
Apparently better cheats
Kip support
Free
Open-source
Constantly updated

SX OS:
EmuNAND
USB
XCI
Everything in one file (which some people like)
Single menu for everything (some people like that as well)
SX OS themed installer

Xortroll is now working on USB support (and is being successful)
To get XCI loading, you need some copyrighted stuff, so that's not happening any time soon.

But you'll get one
OP have requested not a war. I guess I will step up my game to stop it before it happens.

Or both, i have already sxos pro since his start ! I don't touch switch hack since a long time ago so..
If you wanna use both, and switch when you feel like it.
I would recommend you go with Kosmos, and then you can put the SX Gear boot file in the "Payloads" folder in Bootloader. As well as Atmospheres Fusee-Primary file, so you can switch around how ever you wish.

Or if you want fancy graphics, you can use argonNX and click buttons!

SX OS:
Pros:
XCI files - can mount and play XCI files direct from USB (no need to copy to SD card)
- No need to install each game, just mount and they run - just like inserting a cartridge.
- XCI files do not install tickets so *POTENTIALLY* are not as detectable as NSP files.
USB storage - NSP files can be installed to SD card direct from USB storage, no need for PC. Useful on long journeys.
EmuEMMC / emuNAND - makes it potentially possible to dodge a banned console due to no records kept in system NAND (online play under emuNAND not recommended however).
- different official firmware versions can be installed in system and emuNAND (no fuses are burned)

Cons:
No official firmware 7.0 support as yet. Without this you can only use any of the existing 2000 or so titles available currently. NOTE that you CAN install titles and updates requiring firmware 7.x, as long as they are not encrypted with 7.x (as of 3/3/19 no titles are).
Costs money - about the same price as a 200GB SD card for the jig, the dongle and the SX OS licence.
- about the same price as a 128GB SD card for just the SX OS licence.
Cannot use KIPs advanced features - like custom kernel modules (Overclocking module, etc)
MUST use the jig and payload injector on every cold boot (personally, if you're powering off completely regularly then why?).

Free CFW:

Pros:
Official firmware 7.0 support and most likely ongoing support for the future.
No cost - just the included cost of your SD card for it to be installed on.
Can use KIPs advanced features - like custom kernel modules (Overclocking module, etc).
Can boot into CFW from Auto RCM - please note that auto-RCM has been extensively discussed as being potentially detectable by Nintendo and thus a bannable 'offence'.

Cons:
No XCI mounting.
No USB storage.
No emuEMMC / emuNAND.

Keep in mind that BOTH options allow installing of NSP titles to SD card and systemNAND (or emuNAND if using SX OS) via USB cable and NUT or SX server.
Both systems allow use of homebrew and backing up save games to alternate computers / storage for safe keeping.

The age old question - which CFW should I use?
Look at the pros and con feature lists and see which features are must have items for you.
So *IS* SX OS worth purchasing RIGHT NOW?
Without official firmware support for 7.x it is a risky investment.

A xci loader - to play my games without changing the cartridges - for Atmosphere would be nice.. without xci loader the risk for a ban is much too high for me. Therefore is for me sx os the only option I have. This is a shame because the atmosphere team is more sympathetic to me. So what.

  • Thermosphère: EL2 EmuNAND support, i.e. backing up and using virtualized/redirected NAND image
It's on their todo list.

In addition to what other people have mentioned SX OS emuNAND is currently the only way to safely use CFW without getting banned (as long as you keep your emuNAND offline only, and your sysNAND clean for legit online)
That is unless you want to go through the hassle of restoring a clean NAND backup any time you want to play legit games online, which will wear down your NAND, making a new backup (to keep your save data) and restoring the CFW NAND when you're done.

Proper shutdown for autoRCM users
what exactly does this one mean? (im a sx user and i indeed have to hold down power button twice i think? for 10-20seconds to have it properly shut down and sometimes it does not work).

anyways , im also interested in the ops question i will do further reading, but is Atmosphere easy to set up also as in can i easily switch from my SX cfw to Atmo? i read that it has better cheat support, is the loading of the cheats similar to how we load them from album (sx version) or hows it.

i dont care much about emunand/xci.

That it will power off normally even with autoRCM. You dont have to wait for it to boot to RCM again and the force shutdown it.
Yes. Just follow the guide.
Switching is easy. Just use any boot loader which supports launching payloads (hekate or argon)

sounds good, might look into it.
so those that'd update to 7.x only lose SX cfw support and can still use atmo right? if so that is sweet.

also regarding the overclocking, it can only be used with atmo? is it safe to use? im getting some slight lags with VC4 , would love to try OC with that game.
