Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice launch trailer



The latest game from Dark Souls developer From Software is almost here, as Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice's launch date quickly approaches. In the trailer, we get to see gameplay versus various enemies, as well as a teaser for the story segments. Sekiro launches on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on March 22nd.

Take revenge by any means necessary. Become the “One-armed Wolf” and rise from every fall when Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice releases on 3.22.2019.

Prolly as boring as all their games.
Surprincingly doesn't seem to be the case.
They walked away from the souls formula and plays more like a tenchu game than soulsborne.
That's what I can see from the gameplay I've seen.

Suuure..."boring." I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that you died fifty times in ten minutes and gave up before the second boss. :rofl2:

Anyway, day one purchase here. From knows how to make a solidly challenging game without simply inflating enemy HP and damage numbers. Not many modern devs can manage the same.

The one thing that kept me coming back to the souls games was the setting. I'm kind of over the Feudal Japan thing and I actually quit playing Nioh because of it. Hopefully they have a demo or something... Looks.. Meh..

For me it wasn't the setting that turned me off Nioh but instead the combat pacing, and the sparse/needlessly long story. Level design is also kinda lacking, a lot of them were just big round rooms.

I'm sure From will manage to make Sekiro feel just as oppressive as the atmosphere in Dark Souls, although I'd guess the hookshot can't help but add a little joy.

I guess we'll see. Steam has a refund option, but it takes an unnecessarily long time to fulfill..

Will people stop constantly bandwagoning Dark Souls whenever this game is mentioned???? Has absolutely nothing to do with it at all, at all. Really poor point to be used to creat fake hype and boost sales, i love Dark Souls, but this isn't it, this is just another slasher set in ancient Asia with locally inspired Warriors, fantasy, myths etc. More like something Dynasty Warriors universe, single player, 3rd person style.

Why are they calling it a """launch""" trailer when the game still 2 weeks away from being released?
That's so dumb.

Don't call it a launch trailer if the game is not fucking launching for another 2 weeks.

This is an action game, so in that way it is quite different from Dark Souls' RPG aspects, but the combat pacing looks very similar to Dark Souls games nonetheless. I'm sure it won't take DS vets very long to get back into the flow of things.

There's a pretty darn big overlap between Dark Souls fans and people that have become fans of From Software in general.

So it's obvious from this video that Sekiro actually takes quite a lot of inspiration from Bloodborne/Dark Souls:



Combat is a little more parry-heavy, but the UI, targeting, and enemy design are very reminiscent of any Soulsborne. They didn't go for a realistic slant, this is to historic Japan what Dark Souls is to historic Europe.
