im on 7.0.0 and idk what to do
No, you cannot do this. You have two options:
  1. Switch to Atmosphere (recommended)
  2. Downgrade to 6.2.0 and use SX OS
It is possible that TX has silently stopped supporting SX OS and it will never support 7.0.0 or higher, so it's recommended that you switch to Atmosphere.

Please make sure you have the right number of fuses before downgrading

Too many people have downgraded and didn't check their fuse count first

Also, make a backup of your nand and boot 0/1 before upgrading or downgrading - every single time

it's also possible that TX will release 7.X support today, tomorrow or next week, it's also possible ScireM will stop supporting Atmos :O

you know, how you keep posting about 7.X support it reminds me of my friend who just bought a Samsung S10 that has 5g support, but there are no mobile phone operators in the UK that support 5g.

sure oneday there will be, but just like 7.X on the switch there is no, or little reason to update from 6.2

and it's possible that TX will support 7.x by the time there is a reason to update to 7.X. then all this was for no reason .

There's reason to think TX might have silently stopped supporting SX OS, and there's no reason to think Atmosphere's development is stopping anytime soon. Please don't make things up in order to create a false sense of equivalency.

Edit: Atmosphere is open-source with multiple developers, and anybody can contribute to and/or fork it. It is possible that SX OS is not profitable enough at this stage to warrant the work required to make it compatible with 7.0.0 or higher. Making it compatible with 7.0.0 or higher might also be beyond their reach (without using sept).

Thank you for the responses. I think I will downgrade to 6.2.0 and keep using SXOS, but the process seems awfully complicated as I'm not familiar with fuses and NAND backups.
Any good place to read on how to do this, preferably beginner-level?

so you have some evidence that TX has stopped supporting SX? or it's your opinion based on no evidence?

there will be others , not just hexkyz who can get the keys for 7.X , that's one thing I've seen from the PC scene with those who bypassed Denuvo. there's been at least 5 groups or individuals who managed to do it and i'd guess getting these keys would be alot easier than cracking Denuvo

To be honest i think people are over complicating this just use the choidujour tool that lets you choose firmware you want to install choose 6.20 choose exfat option if you use that (you should be using fat32 but whatever its your funeral) and you will be done.

I didn't say TX has stopped supporting SX OS. I said there's reason to think they might have.
  1. We know that the sales of SX OS fell after the release of signature patches on free CFW, and Gateway silently stopped supporting their product when the same thing happened to them, specifically after a particularly daunting update. We know the amount of support a for-profit product gets is directly proportional to how profitable that product is. If a product is no longer very profitable, there's no real reason to expend a lot of time and effort on supporting it.
  2. While it's possible TX will crack TSEC, we don't have any reason to suggest that's within their capabilities, as they've never done anything like that on the Switch before. It might be beyond their reach without using sept.
  3. The lack of any communication amid all of this speculation suggests TX might have gone silent.
The presence of sept also gives us a clue as to how TX thinks and what's going on internally. SX OS could have dramatically reduced their workload by utilizing sept in their update. However, the fact that they haven't done so leads to two possibilities:
  1. SX OS isn't profitable enough to warrant the time and effort required to add 7.0.x compatibility, with or without sept (likely).
  2. The SX OS business model relies so much on their users being ignorant of free alternatives like Atmosphere that sept is a non-option, so they will expend the time and effort to try to crack TSEC, even if it takes months, years, or flatout fails. In other words, long wait times and possibly never supporting anything above 6.2.0 is preferable to sept.
We all knew that Atmosphere was on track to become the next Luma3DS, and that means TX knew it too. SX OS was a gravy train TX was going to ride for as long as possible, but they knew it was going to be a quick ride.

To be honest i think people are over complicating this just use the choidujour tool that lets you choose firmware you want to install choose 6.20 choose exfat option if you use that (you should be using fat32 but whatever its your funeral) and you will be done.
There are other important factors, such as fuses and the possibility that SX OS might not ever support anything above 6.2.0.

what's your source for the sales of SX ?, the only post I can recall was from Garyopa that stated they had sold over 250,000 licences a couple of months ago. I think there is something like 20 million units that can be hacked?. so there is still a large market out there, sure some will use Atmos but with the ease of us of SX ( XCI cut and paste, no install needed and usb support), it's ideal for parents who just want it simple as possible to run backups on their kids switches.

The lack of any communication amid all of this speculation suggests TX might have gone silent.

That's nothing new from TX, I've not searched but you probably said the same about the delay in the last SX update. we know it took them longer than Atmos to release a update and they were silent then, but they released the update.

I doubt what you say is true, because unlike GW, we know SX is TX. you think they will just ignore 250,000 SX users or take down all their TX websites and fade away ? or they could just steal Atmos code again and put up with a Atmos splash screen or find away to hack that out.

I have the YouTube app and save file of Smash with the Pirahna plant update. Will that cause any trouble?

There are other numbers out there, including but not limited to polls here on GBATemp. We knew this would happen, since the same thing happened to Gateway. With regard to that 250,000 number (which I couldn't find a source for), my understanding is it's a total number that doesn't tell us anything about the allegedly declining sales trend.

I think there is something like 20 million units that can be hacked?
If you ask TX, it's more than that, since they lied about ipatched units. The number of hackable units is also irrelevant to what's causing the sales decline, considering each hackable unit can also be used with Atmosphere for free instead.

so there is still a large market out there, sure some will use Atmos but with the ease of us of SX ( XCI cut and paste, no install needed and usb support), it's ideal for parents who just want it simple as possible to run backups on their kids switches.
First, installing NSP files over USB is easier than using XCI files and requires fewer steps. Second, nobody really cares about USB HDD support when the choice is between free and fee. Third, SX OS does not support 7.0.x and might never support anything above 6.2.0, which excludes a lot of future games.

That's nothing new from TX, I've not searched but you probably said the same about the delay in the last SX update. we know it took them longer than Atmos to release a update and they were silent then, but they released the update.
This is the first time I've ever claimed that it might be possible TX has silently stopped supporting SX OS, because that's what the evidence suggests at this point. It should also be noted that it's very possible TX was only able to support 6.2.0 by taking the publically released exploit. In the case of 7.0.x, there is no publicly released exploit, which is one of the reasons why this case is different and why I'm bringing up the possibility now that SX OS might never support anything above 6.2.0.

I doubt what you say is true, because unlike GW, we know SX is TX.
That doesn't really mean much. Gateway also had a lot of users, but once sales flatlined, there was no reason to keep supporting the product. Neither of us is delusional enough to believe companies like TX support their products out of the goodness of their hearts. They do so because it's profitable for them to support products they are still actively trying to sell. Once the money dries up, you can expect their effort to decrease dramatically, and that might have already happened.

Not quite relevant, but there's also circumstantial evidence that Gateway might have been somehow related to TX.

you think they will just ignore 250,000 SX users or take down all their TX websites and fade away ?
For the reasons I listed above, yes I do believe they would ditch the current SX OS users the same way Gateway's users were abandoned. They already have your money, and supporting the product isn't going to make them anymore money. You're basically asking them to work for free if you're asking them to provide support after sales have halted.

I also don't know why you would suggest they would take down their websites. There's no need to do that when silently ceasing support.

or they could just steal Atmos code again and put up with a Atmos splash screen or find away to hack that out.
See my earlier post in this thread about what it means that TX hasn't adopted sept yet and why it's also reasonable to guess TX might not be capable of breaking TSEC.

Stop with the FUD. This is like someone saying "It's possible SciresM is a child molester" - your speculation has no evidence.

Yes, you might have games and applications stop working if you downgrade to 6.2.0 because they were installed to require 7.0.x. It's recommended that you not downgrade to 6.2.0 and instead make the switch to Atmosphere.

You seem to have confused "speculation" and "evidence" actually, hunny.

Evidence can be strong or weak (e.g. circumstantial evidence). I think you're confusing evidence with proof, friend.
I'm only articulating why it's reasonable to speculate TX might have silently abandoned SX OS and why 7.0.x is difficult for them.

speculate
Hey there we go. You're speculating. You're guessing. You're assuming and given you're an atmosphere zombie and actually think lacking features is acceptable, I daresay you're hoping SX has reached end of life. None of this is evidence. Now go away.

There is a non-zero chance that SXOS is dead forever. Been dead for long enough now. Empty promises (ala Gateway) don't instill confidence. If they could do it TSEC without stealing sept, they would have by now. If they gave a shit about their customers, they would steal Sept if they cannot do it on their own. Right now they are doing neither. A dead product, I think.

You can't "hack out" the Atmosphere splash screen. The sept binary is encrypted and signed with the keys found with an undisclosed exploit. If the binary isn't signed by those keys, it won't boot.
