A programming idea proposal that's fucking stupid but might be useful

(Posting in EoF because it's kinda stupid and because no one looks in the Android subforum, so this thread would get buried with no replies almost immediately.)

So, you know how VR headsets are still way too expensive for most people? How about using three smartphones as a VR setup? One with Google Cardboard (or Daydream View) and two others as the controllers with their gyroscopes. You could even make some basic button controls with the touch screens.

Not necessarily, people probably have unused phones lying around, a Google Cardboard costs less than ten bucks, and even if you don't have enough phones for the project, you can get some cheapo Androids for far less than actual VR gear.

Only old ones (pre-KitKat, I think?) can do that. I had WiiMotes in mind as well, but those would be a nightmare to sync with modern Windows. JoyCons could work probably, but they are expensive (not as expensive as VR gear, but still).

I have an even stupider idea, use 2DSes connected via Wi-Fi and use the gyros on them
