2017’s Metroidvania styled hit, Hollow Knight, is getting a sequel. Originally teased as a DLC expansion, developer Team Cherry’s latest project turned out to be so substantial, that they’re making it into a follow up game called Hollow Knight: Silksong. New gameplay was shown off in the reveal trailer, where the game was announced for Nintendo Switch and PC. No release date was provided, but if you were an original backer of the first game’s Kickstarter, you’ll be receiving Silksong free of charge. Brand new stages, music, enemies, and gameplay modes await when Silksong launches sometime in the future.

That said, hardly surprising that they're making it a full game, there's a lot of backer content left that they had to implement in the base game.

Them making it a second game makes sense imo.

Also a sequel? That's curious. Particularly given how Godmaster ended, seeing Hornet start out in a cage is... curious to say the least. I wonder how this game relates to the events of Hollow Knight.

Me and my wife are still playing Hollow Knight and exploring everything on our own, over 150 hours into the game and it still doesn't get boring!

I hope Silksong will have the same replayability!

the movepool seems exceptionally convoluted.

i fear in terms of gameplay and controls, this will be not unlike the jump between Shovel Knight and Plague of Shadows

Team cherry is the purest testament that instead of cramming everything as "DLC", certain circumstances must you consider that it is better to make a new game than make it more bloated than it is.
