A multitude of PC classics will be making their way to the current console generation soon, as announced by Skybound Games. Oldschool D&D inspired hits like Baldur's Gate 1, 2, Siege of Dragonspear, Icewind Dale, Planescape: Torment, and Neverwinter Nights are coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch sometime in the future. Beamdog is in charge of the ports, already having become familiar with the aforementioned titles when creating the enhanced PC editions for them in the past. No release date was given, though it was confirmed that when they do launch, all the games will be available both digitally and physically.

i never played much of baldurs gate, but that game was already a chore with keyboard and mouse. i don't think it'll be fun on a gamepad.

Aw fuck, Baldur's Gate? Used to play 4 player on that shit with my boys back in the days of the PS2. Haven't played since. A Switch port is a welcome port.

Edit: Shit, I was thinking of the Dark Alliance games. Miss them, never played the other BG games. Ports, meh.

Ooh, another excuse to buy NWN again. That game is great.
It better not be a full priced game though. I picked up NWN2 Platinum on Steam for like $10 years ago, so charging full price for the original now would be overpriced as hell.

It'll be interesting to see how these turn out without M+KB support, not sure how well some of these will translate to gamepad controls, but it'll be nice to have some of the best CRPGs ever on some consoles. Recently installed NVM just last week and played through it, such a fun game.

It's entirely possible that they will have KB+M support, both the PS4 and the Xbox One have native support for USB peripherals. With that said, even on a controller it shouldn't be too bad, I've played games with traditionally mouse controls and you can implement that in a fairly comfortable way, provided the cursor accelerates just right - Halo Wars is a good example here.

I imagine they'll support the touchscreen on the Switch at least. It would be silly not to, it's much more suitable for those games than a controller. They still need to have controller support for docked mode of course but at least you have the option to play handheld.
