Good morning, I'm kinda pissed.
Exactly 9 hours ago I was watching and playing smash with my TV just fine.

Now I woke up and it looks like someone threw a freaking wii mote into my TV.

How can something like this happen without any force or impact.
The TV is literally just hanging on the wall.

Maybe a rodent got into it? Or some internal component heated up like crazy and some parts contracted too much. Or you sleep-demolished your tv. Or your smash games were too lit, fam. Btw nice selfy.

It kind of looks like it's cracked but that may be the lighting.
Anyway, modern electronics have a habit of breaking sooner or later. The more complex something is the more there is that can go wrong and manufacturers simply can't test every single unit they send out for thousands of hours to make sure they will hold up over time.

Looking at the locations and styles of the cracks I am going to ask about the mounting on the back. That could be screws in too far (which might not be immediately apparent) or a bad mounting design in the TV itself (pulled apart a few screens in my time that I am glad were not put on their VESA or whatever mount, samsung ones among those but not sure if they were of that vintage).

That seems like a likely reason. That or someone had an accident and was too scared to tell him...
TVs these days seem to be less and less sturdily made, especially the bigger ones. The old fluorescent backlit LCD TVs might have been bulky and heavy but at least they were sturdy. The thinner they make them, the less sturdy they seem.
Uhhhh....maybe get the capacitors replaced? Looks like maybe they 'sploded, really, really hard?

I'd probably get a new TV.

Quick question: did you play as Ness and abuse PK Fire?
They're supposed to pop rather than explode. While it's not impossible for that to happen, it's highly unlikely.

How old it is? I guess it's too old to be under warranty still but you should have at least 2 years of warranty under EU law. On the off chance it is exploded capacitors the repair people should easily be able to tell and realize that it's not caused by user error. But I think that's unlikely to be the cause, FAST6191's explanation sounds far more likely.

Something went poof inside of that baby
Most likely a bunch of capacitors, Samsung tends to put in terrible power supplies into their entrance/midrange televisions.
But it's really weird that the damage is so high up, they usually put the supply on the left quite close to the plug.

One thing would be a high surge of electricity went through it, did you have any surge protectors and how was the weather last night ^^

So guys how do you think it's a capacitor? It's the glass I went with my finger over it and the Crack expanded and made glass crackling sounds. Weather was pretty normal and it's probably about 5 years old. So from my view it's definitely the panel. But still weird. Okay sometimes my window did smash against the TV from the side but you can't really do much when you're playing smash. Could be the abuse over time. I mean isn't 5 years a good lifespan? Just to be clear tho on that day that this happened nothing was moved or hit.

Wow I was gonna say maybe your house is haunted lol. Never seen something like this tho Ive had 2 Samsung Smart TV's die out with a blank screen, but the sound was still playing.
I really hope my current one lasts longer since its 4k Ultra HDR. My guess is the screen had an undetected crack and over time it expanded due to heat.

I'll buy a new one tomorrow but going for oled is probably not worth it. Planning to spend max 800€
