Yeah, but that's just him guessing based off information on the dev center - that the update is near-final, that Nintendo has a planned date for bringing up the Korean network services, etc. It's not like he actually knows.

I've said previously, the update is coming soon, probably not the time frame he suggested but within the next few weeks, probably sooner than later

I personally don't doubt that there will be an update, simply because it's an active system and Nintendo has been rather regular with updates on it. But that's not actually relevant to what @blahblah was saying. It's really not hard for Gary to piece something together from what is available to him. He was able to get the 6.0 right, but then completely missed the ball on the release date and details behind the update. That's the kind of issue that they were talking about in that post.

To expand on this, the only stuff Gary has ever gotten right is the information that is on the Nintendo Developer Center for anyone with Switch access to see. He can see which updates are being seeded to developers, the versions of them, etc. He doesn't appear to actually have access to the Dev Center himself, if he did he would be able to see the Network Maintenance schedule and the release notes for the developer firmware seeds. Both of which would be helpful for guesstimating the update release timing.

Gary is a grifter. He knows less than nothing.

the one thing that seems odd to me is versioning, like it should be major.minor.patch/bugfix

So for 7.0 been the next update to me, suggests that it should be something major but again details aren't know. Hopefully they are adding useful features (folders) or maybe decided to release a web browser. To me either one of those would suggest a major update :)

The features Gary is quoting come from a public Nintendo website, not the actual dev center. It's possible there are more new features in 7.0, but this wouldn't be the first time Nintendo has bumped the major version without adding meaningful new functionality - see the 3DS.

"System stability" or major undisclosed security fix then? :P

Nintendo has always been weird with version changes. They have always been interesting, to say the least. Take the 3DS 11.0.0-33 update, it did a few things, but nothing really that interesting. Then randomly one day 11.8 actually updated the TWL Firmware and broke 2 out of 3 CFWs (cakesFW somehow lived through it.) Nintendo works in some weird ways when it comes to updates.

If they jumped from 6.2 to 7.0 it must be an important update
Must be new here. This just isn't the case with the Switch. One "major update" was just to close a few holes that hardly had any negative impact to the end user.

Illinois is working to ban toxic food additives that have been banned for decades in other countries; additives that can be replaced and all those countries still have Skittles and Mountain Dew. Title of the piece: GUBMINT WANTS TO TAKE AWAY YOUR CANDY

@Veho, Sounds and smells like bullshit. They don't give you cancer, and California should know that. I don't get why they stick labels that say "may or may not cause reproductive harm or cancer".

Arsenic doesn't give you cancer either.

I mean if a company could use AI to do the work of a home conversion for essentially free why not? The rights for some games are completely lost though
