Persona Q2 rated by Australian Classification Board

220px-PersonaQ2newcinemalabyrinth.jpg

If there's an impending western release, you can usually count on Australia's Classification Board to leak the details prior to an official announcement. Atlus has submitted the Nintendo 3DS title Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth to be rated, which, as of today, it has received a M, a typical rating for games in the Persona series. Thus, it's safe to say that a western release reveal is imminent. Persona Q2 is a sequel to 2014's Etrian Odyssey and Persona mash-up, Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth. The sequel will focus on the cast from Persona 5 interacting with characters from 3 and 4, as well as the feMC protagonist from Persona 3 Portable. Koch Media is listed as the publisher on the Australian page, likely meaning that its subsidiary Deep Silver will be in charge of publishing the game in European and Australian territories.

WTF! they knew about the fan trans and pulled this shit....then I bet the fuckin thing goes through dev hell and gets canceled until it's announced as a game for 3DS Classic, like Star Fox 2.

Just no to all that crap. I mean I'm surprised a fan trans even started considering how popular Persona is over here.

On topic - This is good news and I can't wait for an official release date.

I dunno which fan translation you’re thinking of, but the one I’ve seen was never a full translation of begin with. Just the menus and stuff, none of the story stuff, sooooo...

Either way, HYPE. This is probably going to be the last 3DS game I go out of my way to buy.

The only translation that was publicly mentioned; it's the fact the creator said they would stop working on it if there were plans of releasing the translated version of PQ2. I could go in-depth, but.....

No? WDYM?

Dude, Persona is pretty popular.

Besides, I'm just giving you an example of exactly what happens at EoL regarding non-mario/pokemon/zelda games--this is why SF2 was on SNES Classic.

Eh? Sorry, but Persona Q itself had a 6 month translation period. Persona Q2 hasn't been out for 3 months yet and you're already accusing them of this shit?

This is an entirely expected but awesome announcement!

CANT WAIT FOR IT, BRING IT ON!

You're telling me. I just have to think of all the EoL problems consoles face; right now, I'm like "Proof or GTFO" with any 3DS announcements.

Now, I'm going to take you down memory lane, when I had hope and shit: The Snack World! In English! soon!

These days, I want proof or the hopeful can suck it.

You're accusing Atlus, the company that released Persona 5 on the Playstation 3, in spite of the PS3 being EOL of not releasing their product? PQ2 itself came out in Japan when the 3DS was already EOL. Seriously, put the tinfoil hat off, it's not warranted here.

Wouldn't it be great if every japan-only game went through this process though?
Fans: Hey! Let's translate this game to English!
Developers: Aw shit. Okay we shall start with localization immediately.
Fans: Welp, our work wasn't in vain, after all!

I'm so excited! PQ2 seems such a nice game and i've been wanting to play it for so long, ever since it has been announced to JP. So glad it's getting localized! I honestly cannot wait. After the Persona 5 R dreams for the Switch pretty much got shattered, this is going to be waaay better than nothing.

I hope this is sarcasm, tbh I never doubted Persona Q2 would get localized, has ATLUS not brought a 3DS title to the west yet?

PQ does interest me more than EQ but I've played like half of Persona 4, a couple hours of 3 and not even touched 5 so feel like I can't play these titles yet.

I mean, i get your frustration, but it was pretty much 100% confirmed that they would bring Persona Q2 over to the west. It's a big franchise, and i doubt sooo much they would leave the game out of the western part, especially after the great reception of the first game in the west.

There's a big difference between The Snack World in Persona, not only in popularity but in demand overall. Persona Q2 was just way too prone to be localized ever since. Also, it has been barely any time since the game's been out, it was really soon to already start a fan translation process.

Impossibly stupid take, on all fronts. It goes without saying that a Persona title is going to get localized, the publisher doesn't give a shit about a barely begun fan translation and the game is going to get released for the normal, existing 3DS in the near future. Not on some mythical 'classic' device.

Honestly, you can't really compare Atlus with Level 5 in this situation.
Atlus has been localizing every single SMT/Persona and EO game (save for Etrian Mystery Dungeon 2) that's been announced and released on the 3DS so far. I don't see them passing up the chance to localize PQ2 as well.
Level 5's already having enough financial issues as it is (ie. both Inazuma Eleven Ares and Yokai Watch 4 got delayed; the former due to lacking enough employees). If they do ever get around to localizing Snack World, they'll probably only focus on the mobile version; it wouldn't be that far fetched since there's already 3 full 3DS games on mobile (ie. Layton's Mystery Journey [Worldwide], Monster Hunter Stories [Worldwide], Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry's Wonderland 3D [JP]). If not, then they'll probably localize the Nintendo Switch version instead (assuming the localization hasn't been canceled yet). They've also done quite a number of blunders over the years, so who knows...
  • Fantasy Life 2 being made into a mobile game, eventually rebranded as Fantasy Life Online after multiple delays.
  • Cancelling plans for Inazuma Eleven Galaxy's English release/production in Europe just because there was some company that held the rights to the Galaxy name (instead of opting for a title change to avoid any issues).
  • No further 3DS eShop Only releases of the Inazuma Eleven games in America. They only re-dubbed the first game; it still used the EU names and iirc had the same script (save for the regional differences with certain word spellings). All the current Inazuma Eleven games (save for Galaxy) are available in English in Europe. They did a pretty good job at it and I thought it was better than the EU one, which was pretty awkward/all over the place.
  • Cancelling Ushiro for the PSP. Last year, they announced that they were reviving the project and making it for the Nintendo Switch instead (there hasn't been any news since then).
  • They never localized Time Travelers (3DS/Vita/PSP).
  • They cancelled an Inazuma Eleven game for PC, starring the first trilogy's MC's descendant from the far future.
Those are just some of the things I can recall off the back of my head.

You're accusing Atlus,
Yes, until there's a release date, I'm super-skeptical of a release....you act like Atlus is Nintendo and what I'm getting at by saying that is: Ninty can be like, "Nah, dawg, we want yo' Persona on Switch."

It's a brave new world.

has ATLUS not brought a 3DS title to the west yet?

3DS hasn't been EoL yet; it's a brave new world.

would leave the game out of the western part

Welcome to Switch--insert bad Switch pun.

It goes without saying

I'm re-naming you: Boobblah Bleh; you....just don't get it. That (3DS classic) was an example....to promote the thought a translated PQ2 could be a far-off gem you won't have in your hands for a very long time, like an imagination (kek). Seriously, the "impossibly stupid take" is reserved for anyone who believes everything is going to work out juuuuuuust fine.

Now mind yous, I want the game to get a translation, but I want something solid--there are a lot of projects that don't take off as planned and they get scrapped.

Let's take a look in a three-month span and see what happens because a lot of your crystal balls look wrinkly and I'd rather not believe what you claim to see when you look in the future.

compare Atlus with Level 5

You're a little late, but pick a response and roll with it.

What do you mean?

The Jp .cia is out and the US/EU hasn't got a release date.
Well the aussies got their own copy of the game that has to be english right? It's only a matter of time before the actual game gets leaked. I mean the fact of the matter that australia is getting their own copy has been proven by the leak, therefore an english version should be coming soon. Thus, CIA file time (whenever it gets leaked)
