Final Fantasy X, X-2, and XII to release on the Switch this April

KkrQKGO.png

Announced back in a September 2018 Nintendo Direct was that a handful of Final Fantasy games would be receiving a port to the Nintendo Switch. Three of those aforementioned games have been given their release date: Final Fantasy X HD, X-2 HD, and Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age. The first two are slated for release on April 16th, while XII will arrive slightly after, on April 30th. Additionally, these will all also be available to purchase on the Xbox One.

But the release dates are new. Not to mention the NES games, the Yoshi trailer, that one port of that one game... A bunch of direct worthy announcements over twitter

I know but Nintendo Direct mentioned it. Thats all. Not the release dates. Now, release dates are new and that's good to know. :)

At least on PS4 both were on the same disk und not really that big. Good chances that the cart includes both games in the switch.

i said 2018 was the year of Ultimate portings for Switch...

well i was wrong.
Still neat to have them all portable. Plus, these games have never been on a Nintendo/Microsoft console before.

Also, um, this sounds like something they would normally announce at a direct. So, about that Jan direct...

Those games have been portable on the Vita for a long time now though, other than FF12.

I'd much prefer 9.

10 was a lot of fun though. 12 was like watching paint dry. But here's hoping they're cheaper than full-price, with x and x-2 being on the same cartridge.

Yeah, but the Vita was a flop

Only for those who were expecting great things from it, and lack of support from Sony.
It's still a great emulation machine, and even has quite a few great games.
Now that it is completely blown open (can run games regardless of FW, use traditional SD cards, run PS1 and PSP games flawlessly), it should still be to go-to emulation device until the switch scene catches up to it.

Why so many announcements on Twitter? I guess there's no imminent Nintendo direct
There's enough of these various twitter announcement to the point where they could have made a mini direct out of it at the very least even if it was not streamed and just emediatly uploaded as a normal video instead. We are going into a new year and so it's unusual to see them not do a new year direct giving a run down of some of what's to come for the next year. They do usually keep some secrets up their sleeves for later announcement but this is so weird.
