Goldleaf

Goldleaf is a multipurpose homebrew tool for Nintendo Switch!

Goldleaf.1.jpg

Similar to the well-known 3DS homebrew FBI, Goldleaf serves as a file browser/manager/editor, title manager, user account manager... and more!

Let Goldlead make your life easier while dealing with more or less technical Nintendo Switch stuff!

Starts for me within a second.

I was quite happy with that since it was supposed to have an better usb install than Tinfoil.... but it doesn´t work at all.

I get three "errors":

1.) I send the nsp then I get that Ticket or Content was sent to Goldleaf and on the console nothing happens. It shows no speed nor does the "writing content" change at all. I have waited over an hour for 200MB...
Tried with multiple nsps.

2.) "Failed to open metafile"

3.) stuck in "Goldleaf is ready for the installation".

Overall it now worked exactly twice... with twenty different nsps.
Any ideas?

there are still a large percentage of Switch hackers who cannot follow directions / do not have the technical ability to do so.. look at every single FAQ for every single console which has been hacked in history. That is why there is always a ''market'' for easy to use products OR someone who has the know how and time to do the work for you. Which always amuses me when people comment about not making money from open source products - there are lots of people making money from someone else's open source work.. the people charging to mod consoles.. which in turn they usually sell copies of software for the modded console as well.

As for reverse engineering not being illegal, not always true - there are plenty of patents which lock down intellectual property (whether code, medical or chemical structure) so you cannot reverse engineer them and then release you clone to the free or commercial market.

This is not untrue (that there is a market for the apathetic/uneducated), but I would challenge anyone as to the specifics here. How is using a $9 dongle bought off the internet preloaded with hekate and dragging and dropping files from kosmos any different/harder than buying a sx os dongle and dragging and dropping the .dat file? At least with atmosphere you don't have to go through the process of aquiring a license.dat file, an obvious 'extra step' that is only required with this paid service.

And while yes, at the moment sx installer (which is just DZ) is a more feature rich program, what does it accomplish that someone with atmosphere cannot? You can install .nsp game files the same with sx installer as you can with tinfoil/goldleaf. Sure, you can bring up xci loading and emunand, those are clearly extra features but do they really add more utility? In the end, if you want to pirate games it doesn't really matter how you pirate them, whether you mount the xci everytime (annoying) or install the nsp once.

And the emunand discussion will soon be a moot point as a free emunand will be here before you know it. I've watched the progress so don't think that it isn't happening, it will be here shortly enough. I do believe the emunand is a feature that gives sx os an advantage. But its literally the only true advantage, the other features are all available in one form or another and are not anymore difficult to use than sx os.

The major point here - There is nothing major that a atmosphere+hekate switch cannot do that a sx os can do, any any extra features are minimal (mostly lazy features that may save a small amount of time and thats it). And soon enough what little differences there are will be availble for the community for free.

Im not against good ole capitalism. Those who wish to improve on others work are free to do so. Those who wish to pay for it are free to do so. That fosters innovation and growth. I also have no problem with blawar using source from products and selling his upgraded feature set to a company to use.....with the exception that he follow the licenses that exist. They exist for a reason and that reason is valid. If you save time by using others work that they freely provided to the community, then you are supposed to do the right thing by then giving back to those people/communities that provided the work that saved you time. This is how civilizations are built. If you choose to not play by these rules, there are of course legal implications, but the stronger argument is the long term consequences. How many people will hold back from releasing to the public benefical applications/exploits/source due to the malbehavior of others? The best example right now is with the ps4. There are real exploints for the latest firmware that are not being released specifically because the only utility that people are trying to bring to the ps4 is piracy. If people gave more shits and contributed instead of stealing, then these security researchers would be much more likely to release their exploits.

As for RE, yes you are not wrong of course there are going to be exceptions/exclusions, etc. But that does not make my original point incorrect. And your point also strays from the context of the this topic, which was the absurd notion that xortroll somehow stole his own work from xecuter. Lets not erect strawmen and try to muddy the conversation with false narratives eh? Distracting from the point doesn't accomplish anything.

This is not the place to compare sx os and other homebrew or start again with stolen code conflicts, or know who is right or wrong.
be happy to have choices, instead of wanting to kill user's project because it does what you can already do differently.
if someone want to code something which already exists, but want to do it HIS/HER way, let that user do it. why would you care? Don't use it if you don't want, don't force people to use the one YOU chose.

Why create a burger chain, there's already Mcdonald! why create Pepsi, there's already Coca! etc. etc.
let people do what they want. if there are more choice, what's wrong with that?

now, please, keep the thread on topic.

Takes a lot of time to get running, dunno why
Also I can't manage to install some big NSP files via USB, always crash/freeze or something
For now I'll stick to the original tinfoil, still looking to the next updates tho

maybe it's scanning files, partitions or SD at launch ?
I never installed any nsp/xci, and I have very few official ones too (less than 10 titles), so maybe it's faster to load?
It feels slower than other homebrew, but it's more around 2-3 seconds than 15s. but even other homebrew, I didn't test a lot so I can't really compare.

I would say it's like 2 seconds more than other homebrews, and shouldn't take more, just loads graphics.

I tried goldleaf and goldtree usb install and it connects up all fine and when I sent a 1.5gb map it claims installed all good then when I exit goldleaf it just showing a refreshing icon on home .. also installed nsp of goldleaf and tried usb install via that it still came up the same.. if only we could even use the usb as a storage like normal sd card access via usb .. I think that would be awesome..

A thing v0.3 will add is opening regular files, as text, or even on a hex viewer! The idea is based on GodMode9.
Now another partition can be browsed too, PRODINFOF.
A few other changes have to be made, but you can test all this stuff on the nightly builds!

Hex viewer:

Neat tool, but same issue with loading times here. It takes over 15 seconds to load it. Accessing the title management also takes quite a while, like 5 seconds. I'm using a 128 GB microSD which is pretty close to full.

Stuck on "Sending ticket file..." when using the USB feature. The game is Retro City Rampage DX. About 22mb and its not installing. Am I doing something wrong?

Gold leaf is also pretty slow when installing nsp's. Installed pokemon let's go using tinfoil only takes like 5 to 10 secs, using goldleaf takes like 3 mins to install the same nsp.
