ok pulling my hair out here.

got a brand new switch on 3.02, a 128gb sd card formatted to exfat, and sxpro.

ive backed up my untouched nand and copied it to a pc.

ive then tried to create a hidden emunand which takes ages finishes and then when I select boot cfw, with emunand enabled, I get a black after the Nintendo logo. ive left it for like half hour same.

hold power button then power up all is well back to stock fw.

so how can I boot the hidden partition emunand using fw 3.02 and sxpro?

im guessing it because 3.02 doesn't support exfat. is there a way to do this without touching my 3.02 actual nand? or will I have to use choi to update the actual nand to 5.1?

Why not format your microSD to FAT32 and test it that way?
Technically the switch would complain about a missing update when you insert an exfat card and not allow you to do anything further until you do. So my suggestion is format to FAT32, go through the entire process and try and boot that way

im guessing it would work like that but I wanted exfat so I could use single files.
Your new switch cant use exfat without being updated... format to fat32, then update via https://gbatemp.net/threads/choiduj...ller-homebrew-for-the-nintendo-switch.513416/ and then format it back to exfat.

Edit- I wonder if you could install 3.0.2 with exfat with Choidujournx.. hmmm

I DO NOT recommend exfat at all though :D I thought I was immune to the corrupted sd cards but after losing all of my games TWICE, I have moved to fat32... I just cant lose my games again...

OK, I had a similar problem with 3.02 or 3.01 (cant remember) when I started (ages ago so there are probably better methods now.) If you cant get into cfw sx or otherwise you need to use a fat32 card to then install the exfat drivers. The way I did it involved finding an xci on the same firmware to extract the update and use rajkosto tools and guides to make update your fw to the same version you are on but with the drivers. I used rajkosto guides and tools https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-...nofficially-without-burning-any-fuses.507461/. Note as to your last concern this does touch the nand. Even if you dont upgrade the exfat driver will still alter the nand.

That all used ChoiDujour and had quite a few steps but I think you are in luck with ChoiDujourNX https://switchtools.sshnuke.net/. You should be able to use (hopefully another sd card in fat32 so you don't lose what you have done) to boot into cfw. Download the FW you want (so the same if you don't plan to upgrade) from darksite subreddits discord. Pretty sure even xbins keeps firmware too. then when you launch ChoiDujourNX you the firmware version you downloaded and choose to apply exfat then flash that.

1. Put your sx files on the fat32 card along with ChoiDujourNX and a folder with the firmware you want (assuming 3.02)
2. Lauch sx cfw using the sx usb-c loader (you'll need the jig if you havent setup autorcm)
3. Go to the pictures where all the sx stuff is and tab right until homebrew; launch ChoiDujourNX
4. update firmware to 3.02 and check exfat. shutdown.
5. Put your exfat sdcard back in and it should work and boot into sx menu. Everything should work.

I knew I took too long to type that...

You can certainly install 3.0.2 with exfat using Choidujour and im fairly sure the same is true for nx which would make it easy. I don't really understand the reasons as you are still altering nand even if staying on the same fw...just keep that clean nand backup safe. I guess doing it this way wont burn the cartridge fuses.

I've been living happily in exfat land primarily using xcis so I've yet to have any corruption (and I backup saves so it wouldn't be a huge deal anyway). It might be time for me to chop everything into nice 4gb pieces and live life in the slow lane. I could also play around with those cheatengines that require fat32 but they don't seem too popular. I was expecting huge archives of fun but can't find any. People seem to have an easier time just edditing hex values of exported saves.

Well it seems that most of the issues with corruption are with homebrew on exfat... Atleast thats what it ended up being for me. It just didnt end well... Im pretty sure there is no issues with loading xci's on exfat though... Same with nsps. The only issue with if you use homebrew a lot.

Tinfoil and NX-Shell ended up losing access to files on my sd card after a while. And then my games just randomly all died 1 by 1.. I backed up all of the data but ended up having to install quite a few games.

I thought people might have just been using something wrong but its nintendos broken exfat driver...

You can do it in a very simple way: create a hidden emunand (only fat32 works for it) , once process is finished, install with choidujourNx latest fmw with exfat in your emulated nand and you' LL enjoy latest games with exfat support keeping your original nand to stock fmw ;)

put the card back in and the file is there.

argh. ok im getting mad now. I just want fat32 128gb sdcard with hidden emunand how difficult is this?

Try formatting the sd card in switch system settings. Then put the sx boot.dat (maybe redownload this) and license.dat in sd root directory. Does it launch sx menu or show splash screen before you get the error?

Some progress.

Followed a guide on tx’s site about offline updating. So updated to 6.20 with exfat and then created emunand on the sdcard in hidden partition mode.

Booted and runs fine. So decided to use Choi to flash back to 3.02 with exfat using a 3.02 from the net. So I booted sx disabled emunand then booted into my 6.20 sys nand and ran Choi to flash. When finished pressed reboot black screen. Eventually managed to get back into sx.

Now I seem to have the same problem whenever I try and boot into 3.02. If I boot into ofw it says can’t read sdcard. It’s like the Choi didn’t add exfat to 3.02.

You weren't meant to boot 6.2 on sysnand
My suggestion was to use fat32 to get sx is to boot and create emunand of 3.2, then update that emunand to 6.2 while remaining on 3.2 sysnand.

You are going to have to use this guide to get your sysnand back to 6.2

https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-...nofficially-without-burning-any-fuses.507461/

You can't boot 3.2 officially anymore since you burnt refuses unfortunately

If I select boot ofw it goes into 3.02, just without exfat support. I think I will leave it like that and use the 6.2 emunand.

Good to hear. I was thinking you may have only installed the exfat driver on one of your nands but that makes no sense because its imbedded in the latter firmware versions. No idea why the 3.02 exfat didn't work. As I said I used a faily
convoluted method when I did this and it worked but while I was looking earlier I found that choui nx supports exfat on that firmware (you can even just use the exfat drivers instead of the whole firmware).

If I come across anthing (I've closed the tab and have terrible mobile speeds right now) I'll link it. It looks like you've got a setup that pretty much does what you want it to anyway atm anyway for now.
