Great homebrew. I think it would be better to hit connect on the switch.
My idea now was: Take my smartphone, connect to my vpn server at home, open a hotspot, connect switch to it. Then start pc via wake on lan (in-home-switching.exe in autostart) and play on my pc while not at home.
Did anyone try that yet? I guess latency will be too much? Right now I can stream 1080p video files this way without problems but I guess streaming a game + sending input back is a whole other deal.

Can't wait to try this while playing on ReDream. Can anyone confirm if this supports multiple switch controllers?

This is HUGE! Great work! It works instantly and surprisingly well! Very promising. Please keep up the good work, and this will be awesome.
Some suggestions:

The picture isn‘t that good because of the compression, and with higher bandwidth it stutters. Do you scale the resolution down to the native switch resolution, before streaming it to the switch, like the steam link does?

Of course audio would be neat too :)

And it would be better to minimize the pc tool to the windows tray, maybe with an autostart option, and that you could connect from the switch instead of the pc. I don‘t know if it‘s hard to develop tough.

But for the first release very, very good!
Thanks for this! :)

Hey I've been waiting for this before the switch was even out with the original first handheld nvidia shield! My 780ti has just recently shit the bed so I cannot test however, I'm assuming this works flawlessly, like, I can play fortnite on the switch again even though I'm banned on the switch version.

Also, gpu wise can I use any gpu or does it have to be nvidia? I was gonna get a Radeon 580 as my replacement 780ti but if this is an implementation of moonlight (nvidia gpu only) I'll get a 1060 instead

It’s not an implementation of moonlight. You can use it with any gpu.

Thanks for your work on this, been messing around with the homebrew and it runs really well.
Weird to be able to sit on the couch and play some mmorpgs with the pro controller.
Recorded some footage of me testing vanilla warcraft on the switch with the joy cons.
Most of the slow down and pop in in the footage was due to my pc.

Will the overclocking damage the console in any way? I mean, I read the OP and saw it it should be safe, but theoretically speaking can this cause problems in the long term?

Oh, now this is interesting. I was looking for some Switch homebrew that would allow me to play FFXIV in bed. Gonna jump on this as soon as audio support is added.

I read on a reddit post that they managed to hack sound into working, I just don't see any details on it.

Can we stream ALL pc games?
Even if they arent our favorite?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

From what ive heard, the switch uses a nvidia gpu chip at 1ghz
The nvidia shield uses the very same chip at 2ghz
In short, switch gpu is underclocked by default
Maybe im wrong, but thats what ive heard
CPU
Shield TV: 2ghz
Switch: 1ghz
GPU
Shield TV: 1ghz
Switch: 768mhz (docked), around 300mhz handheld
I'm not sure this really says much.

First, this program uses CPU overclocking, not GPU. Overclocking wouldn't be needed if homebrew had GPU-accelerated video decoding.

Guy who ported Lakka, one of the first to mess extensively with CPU OCing, said that his battery bulges now.

The chip itself is fine running faster, but you have to think about both heat in the tiny Switch case and drawing from its battery, especially if you are pushing the GPU at the same time. (Don't think this program does.) Those are the kind of reasons Nintendo clocked the chip so low.
The battery bulging was because of the GPU overclock, not the CPU

Is there any way to see your mouse cursor on the switch with this? It's invisible for me and makes it hard to navigate while using Antimicro, forcing me to use teamviewer for the cursor.

Amazing work by the way!

Hey Cencil, I was able to get visability of the mouse by going into mouse pointer options in the mouse settings on windows and selecting "Display pointer Trails" and sliding the slider all the way left to short.

Hope that helps.

Can you link that post?
If its the post im thinking of, it wasn't really a hack , he just used some app to stream the pc audio through his phone.

This is what i posted earlier...

Work-around for Audio

Just tested it with the following setup;
  • Switch with In-Home-Switching
  • PC running Persona 5 on PS3 Emulator
  • Android phone running SoundWire
  • Headphones connected to phone
Not the best game to test, as it runs choppy ... but i think the work-around for audio works for me atleast
Its a temp-workaround; theres a slight audio delay for me on other games when using that app (there could be better ones... but i just wanted post the possibilty)
