Less than 48 hours ago, the famous hip-hop artist called 'Soulija Boy' launches his own branded 'Video Gaming Consoles' and in less than 24 hours earns over $250k from the sales of his $99.99 handheld clone and his $149.99 xbone clone, which are really both just pirated $20 china-produced clones, with the handheld one including over 3000 games and the xbone-like clone with 800 games!

As they say, if you can invent a dance, you can invent a game console. The notorious Soulja Boy recently became the first rapper to dip his toes in the untapped market of gaming, springing the official "SouljaGame" console upon the unsuspecting world at large. Though many immediately took to ridiculing the device, others respected the rapper's gumption in attempting such a bold product launch. Still, many questions arose, still persisting as we speak. Is Soulja meaning to compete with Nintendo's handheld market? Are we to expect a Soulja Smash Bros in the future, in which all playable characters are different variants of Tellem?

The rapper slash businessman took to Twitter to reveal a detailed diagram of the console's skin and bones, as it were. In the same breadth, Soulja proudly revealed he had made $250,000 off his console in fewer than 24 hours. Yet the folks at Games Radar were unconvinced and put on the detective hats accordingly. Apparently, the console variant comes with 800 built-in games, including titles from PlayStation, Neo Geo, PC,SEGA , Game Boy Advance, and NES. The handheld variant is said to come with titles from Nintendo Switch, 3DS, PS Vita, Neo Geo, Game Boy Color, Game Boy, and Game Boy Advance.

Yet, as Games Radar points out, the console's manufacturer Anbernic (who retails via Aliexpress) is selling a suspiciously similar product via their website, for markedly cheaper at that; likewise for the handheld version. As of now, it's not clear whether or not Soulja Boy struck a deal to simply rebrand Anbernic's existing product, or if Soulja Boy is engaging in a little bit of the ol' cop-and-resell. In any case, Soulja Boy's hustle continues, and there doesn't seem to be much anybody can do to stop it.

But the big question now is how will Nintendo and other gaming companies react to the fact 'Soulija Boy' has basically launched 'retro-emulator' clone consoles into the mainstream world, the same way big 'N' did with their official Mini's, but these are clearly not authorized boxes, so will we soon seen this world-famous rapper being dragged into court or will Nintendo turn a blind eye to it!

From the product page "Type: For SOULJAGAME/PS/NEOGEO/PC/SEGA/GBA/NES Video Games", so that's already at least 4 companies who could sue for copyright infringement. They're not just emulators, they include the games in it.

Do they though? I've seen a lot of conflicting information as to whether or not they actually come with ROMs. I'm aware the original Chinese consoles do, but I haven't seen that confirmed one way or another for these

now that i think of it the hacking community (for the most part) get off lucky rarely do you hear of Jailtime for the common dev or even pirate most they do is scare you straight with exceptions like Geohotz or Graf this is just a whole other level of stupid

Nintendo gives Apple some competition. Video game rentals is illegal in Japan because of Nintendo.

Fun fact: I own the real, Chinese version of the SouljaHandheld thingy, it is decent after you mod it. I find pretty funny to see he would use it instead of any other cheaper emulation handheld.

Soulja is a U-list rapper who became irrelevant after his hit song "Crank" and now he's trying to get back into being relevant by selling pirated games from Sony, Nintendo, SEGA, and more.

He didn't "hack" anything, Soulja bought a batch off a seller on AliExpress or the likes and then renamed the consoles as his own. As if he had done anything to them other than pretending it's his own and going from $50 to $150.
