Any help would be appreciated, I’m hoping there is a guide I can just follow.

I have a nice unused/hackable Switch with a 200GB SD card just waiting to be loaded.

Thanks, I looked at that guide you linked and it seems really simple but it doesn’t talk about backing up your nand, also it doesn’t talk about emunand, or how to load games, etc, so I’m still confused.

They really have to update their manual, that's true.

1)To play games in the simplest way possible you need to download games from sites which I'm not allowed to post here, they need to be .xci extension, very easy to find in google. After you downloaded the game you just drag and drop it to the root of your microSD, and then you can access the game by launching the Album app on your switch.

2)NAND backup is done via their menu when you boot up. After you press "Inject Payload" hold volume + until their menu appears. Go to Options > NAND > Backup NAND, let it do it's thing it'll take some time.

3)As for emuNAND, assuming you're using a non-beta version of sx os, refer to this guide https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-setup-emunand-keep-sysnand-online.520471/

Thank you for that, in terms of emu and, do si need to do it? It won’t let me play games online, so what’s the point in that case?

I remember reading threads where there is something in the hacking process that burns something out after using it many times, a fuse or something, is this something I need to worry about with the SX OS Pro?

EmuNAND is good if you're planning to buy a legit game at some point and want go online with it, so you just separate the NANDS, emuNAND will have all your backups, while sysNAND will only have legit games. You keep emuNAND offline at all times since the ban risk is very high if you go online with it, while sysNAND can go online to play only legit games.

As far as fuses go, SX OS has nothing to do with burning fuses. Nintendo Switch uses an Nvidia Tegra X1 SoC, which comes with a fuse driver. This allows it to blow fuses — permanently modifying the device, making it impossible to revert to a previous state. In layman terms it's purpose is to prevent your system from being downgraded to a lower firmware, the key word is should though, because there's a workaround but you will have to give up sleep mode. If you don't want your fuses burnt you can use ChoiDujourNX to update your switch, it will make sure the fuses are not burnt and autoRCM is installed.

Do they allow for backing up the NAND before any of the OS is loaded? Hekate might be the better bet for backing up your NAND, then follow the rest of the SX OS guide.

Ok so I follow the first guide and then the 2nd guide for emunand right?

I don’t plan on playing any legit games but it’s always a possibility, so I guess I should start off with emunand from the very start.

Does it take long to switch between sysnand and emunand?

That’s the problem with all these different guides, I just want one to follow with best practice applied.

as for emunand, i have the same theory as you, its pointless. if it was great then the opensource scene would be all over it, but there not. you will get banned still, you cant play online with it either.
if cfw was unstable then i would understand the need, but all cfw seems to pretty stable, the only issues most have is due to them not following instructions.

as for fuses, thats apart of actual firmware upgrade. each official upgrade will burn an efuse to prevent you from loading older firmware back up. but theres ways around it. choidujournx is the program everyone uses to upgrade firmware without burning fuses.

use hekate 4.5 and do a rawnand backup.

the vram is one advantage when it comes to AI but ends up being slower even with that and really AI is the only use case that needs more than 12gb vram right now

    Interesting lol

I think I watched a video where two games at 4K where eating just over 16GB of RAM and it's the one case where the 7900XT and XTX pulled ahead (minus RTX of course)

So my opinion is that they could age a bit better in the future, and maybe AMD will continue improving them via drivers like they tend to do. No guarantee there but they have done it in the past. Just a feeling I have.

cyberpunk at 4k without DLSS/fidelityfx *might* exceed 12gb

but that game barely runs at native 4k
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think it was some newer games and probably poorly optimized PS4 or PS5 ports
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
they definitely will age better but i feel dlss might outweigh that since it looks about as good as native resolution and much less demanding

AMD could introduce something comparable to DLSS but nvidia's got a lot more experience with that

least amd 7xxx has tensor cores which the previous generations didn't so there is the potential for AI upscaling

They have FSR or whatever it's called and yeah it's still not great

so AMD seem to finally be starting to take AI seriously
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Oh yeah those new 8000 CPUs have AI cores built in that's interesting
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Maybe they plan on offloading to the CPU?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Would be kinda cool to have the CPU and GPU working in random more
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Tandem even
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
LLMs can be run on cpu anyway but it's quite slow

I had a girlfriend who had a twin sister and they would mess with me constantly.... Until one chipped a tooth then finally I could tell them apart.... Lol

They would have the same hair style the same clothes everything... Really messed with my head lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
