It's sold as a full standalone campaign. You don't need XC2 to play Torna, and it features entirely new content.

Why is smash even on the list?

50% because people would be upset if it wasn't, 50% so that it won't eat up next year's award.

Smash is my favourite game on Switch this year, (sorry Celeste, Let's Go, TWEWY, Star Allies) but I don't think it should be included in a GOTY for 2018 this late - maybe in a 2019 GOTY, like a bunch of listings on other sites do. Still voting for it now though.

Smash has a surprising amount of content, so it's going to keep me busy for a while. Let's go is nice nostalgia with great aesthetic choices and great for playing with nieces and nephews. That's about all I've had time to play this semester. Hoping to catch up over winter break.

I voted overcooked 2, for the kind of obvious reason: it's the only one I've actually played (and it's a good one, obviously).

I probably would've abstained if something depended on it, but it doesn't take a genius to see that smash will win regardless.

Some great Nintendo games were released at the end if 2017. And this list is not counting re-releases for the 3DS and the Switch done this year.

Otherwise Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker should be on the list.

Your opinion, not mine. I do think it is overated since it is basically the same game each time with extra characters. Not saying it's bad but since it just a copy paste job i don't think it should deserve all the praise it gets. Again, just my opinion.

I personally think that smash bros ultimate is a great game. . . but i got boring after smashing those gamecubeController buttons for 5hours. for fast rounds and stuff its great fun... but for long gaming periods it is just not enough for me. sad i know ^^ octopath traveler has my vote.
