My PS3 Slim runs fine, I’m 99% sure it’s not faulty. It’s just that every time I turn it off, it takes like 10 seconds before it beeps 3 times and turns off. It’s a recent occurrence and it happens regardless whether I press the power button, turn it off on the XMB or turn it off while a game is running. Why am I getting this?
DETAILS: PS3 Slim CECH-2001A, Rebug 4.82 DEX CFW if that helps.

I've had something similar happen after uninstalling something that didn't completely uninstall and left a corrupted icon on the xmb. I rebuilt the database and fixed everything.

It is faulty - in software and by Sony standards, that is!

Something is delaying the shutdown process for more than its maximum allowed time, so it gives up and turns off forcibly

Now, if the next question is going to be "then what is it?"...

I’ve heard lots of people rebuilding the database on CFW consoles and some people had trouble such as files/folders getting deleted by the system so they end up losing their games and backups. Other people had to reformat the HDD completely and reinstall the firmware. You sure its a good idea?

I've probably rebuilt the database on mine (launch 60gb with upgraded HDD) dozens of times with no issues other than having to reorganizes games/apps back into folders. I've messed up things countless times trying to create .pkg shortcuts and stuff like that and rebuilding the database never had any bad effects.

Maybe try it as a last resort in your case if you can't get it figured out...
