3DS firmware version 11.9.0-42 available

Nintendo-3DS-AquaOpen.png

Nintendo has pushed out a new firmware update for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems, 11.9.0-42. It's currently not known exactly what this update brings to the table, but as always, you might want to wait to see what scene developers say before updating your 3DS, if you want to keep using homebrew. The last update, 11.8.0.41, was released in July 2018, and managed to break multiple homebrew applications upon its initial release, so it's recommended to stay on your current firmware for the time being. As always, the patch notes are for the sake of stability.

  • Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience

i did make ctrnand backup before upadting, the bar didn't move.. maybe just a casual problem, my 3ds never did this. And if you ask, NO my console is not banned from CDN neither my friend seed is.

P.S if Nintendo decides to make you need to update to play online(thing that i doubt since friend module was not updated) i will download friend module from some warez site
There is no reason to not update

Well, Atmosphere still works, so it clearly isn’t defeated.

Atmosphere was fixed to work on 6.2.0.. Nintendo did something smart to try work around their hardware flaw.
However their attempt failed because of even smarter hackers.

Just like with Bowsette i have to ask...why?
To improve the browser (no sarcasm)

Stability intensifies... xD I just started to wonder when last time they added new features to our systems?
9.6 (save/load icon positions, I guess you could count a new N3DS-exclusive title encryption if you really push the definition of feature)
9.5 (I guess you could count updated NFC drivers)
9.3 (multitheme)
9.0 (themes)

That was ages ago xP Nintendo are lazy ppl when it comes to their system software or they are obsessed with the stability over new features.

Hm.
Well the digit sum q(21) is 3, maybe it could confirm something. Who knows.

Miiverse is no longer maintained
There have been 21 stability improvements in a row.
21 = 2 + 1 = 3
$3 bills are no longer being made
There are illuminati symbols on all American bills
Nintendo is illuminati confirmed

Jesus, with this update we now have 21 completely useless updates that bring nothing new besides "stability", with the last update that gave us something else being the 9.6.0 update on March 23rd 2015
(Yes, I checked it out)

Ninty, stop trying, you're not going to break exploits like NTRBoot and uninstall other people's CFW with software updates

That was unexpected (again)!
And so another nearly useless update, yay. I haven't been able to test stuff right away as it was quite late here when it was released, but I've also done some tests - some of which I didn't see mentioned here, which is why I'm posting this in the first place:
  • Luma & Homebrew (Rosalina) work out of the box, which was expected.
  • NTR CFW works, no BootNTR update required.
  • The browser does indeed seem to support TLS 1.2 now. I've also tried other tests and all seem to report the same.
  • I'm not too sure about this, but *hax payloads seem to be unaffected. Not that it matters too much nowadays to be honest, but if you want to follow the guide it's still better to wait until the payloads get officially updated to support 11.9.
So, yeah. Nothing to see here, really.
