Pokemon GO will be getting a PvP mode soon in the form of trainer battles

Ever since Pokemon Go launched on phones back in 2016, players have been requesting that a specific mode be added to the game: player versus player battles. Over two years later, Niantic has listened, and will be adding PvP to Pokemon Go. This feature has been hinted at by the development team since 2017, though nothing had ever been concrete until an announcement today on the official Pokemon Go Twitter account. Not much else was revealed, outside of the mode aptly being named Trainer Battles. More details will likely follow soon, as today, November 30th, kicks off a Pokemon Go Community Day event, which will last until December 2nd.

Hmm, that gets me thinking. I never really played Pokemon Go that much. How many items and services can be purchased with real money? Can you buy revives or stardust with cash?

YEP, if u challenge gyms or do raids, u have to cure or revive fallen pokemons, you can get them through people of ur friendlist or purchase them with ingame coins.

There's no need to buy anything in the game ever, especially since they introduced gifting via friends. Between that, level ups, and Pokestops your item box is always full in Pokemon Go.

As much as I would love niantic to implement the battle mechanics from the main series games, I doubt gamefreak would be ok with it.

That being said, I still think PVP battles could work pretty well with the current, go mechanics. To elaborate; being able to switch pokemon at any time, it wouldn't only consist of mindless tapping like it is during raid battles (battling a single pokemon). There would definitely have to be a decent amount of type advantage strategizing, as in, knowing when it's worth losing some attacking time to switch into a more resististive pokemon, or just staying in and taking super effective damage to deliver a final charged attack.

Either way, I'm pretty excited :)

They really need to revamp the battle system.

Tapping isn't a battle system. If 2 identical pokemon battle each other, whoever has the faster phone with a better connection wins. Every time.

Also, why does the game run like complete shit? We have games such as fortnite and pubg that look closely to their console counterparts and run steadily at 60fps on most high end flagships, while pokemon go lags like a turd in the wind with it's simple ass graphics.

Took them long enough. I've been waiting for this for years.

All attacks have the same delay time, so it's not even that simple. Two people with the same attacks would most of the time result in a draw.

I'd much rather they implement a mode where two people savagely beat each other with pokeballs until one succumbs to the sweet embraces of death.

Oh boy they're finally adding a feature that was supposed to be in the game a long time ago. The only reason I still play Go is to catch Meltan.

The only way this will be remotely fair is if PvP battles disregard the weather conditions boosting certain move types.
